Why are demotion series not a thing? Like you lose a couple at 0 lp and then get put into a demotion series. Lose 2/3 or 3/5 and you get demoted? Playing a game at 0lp right now is basically a coin flip. Just adds more stress. It makes people feel unlucky. I know it works based on your MMR but that is a "hidden" stat and I believe getting demoted should less of a surprise.
It's not a coin flip. It's calculated based on your MMR. If your MMR is garbage for your division you fall. If your MMR is good you can lose 5+ games at zero LP and not get demoted. The ladder isn't about getting a lucky win streak to get promoted then being blocked from falling even though your win rate is 45%.
Promo series are already stressful, who wants to go through a demotion series...i'd rather just get hit with it.
Also op.gg does a pretty good job at calculating ur mmr.

Yeah but when you're on the border line. Like you know your mmr has tanked but you're not sure by how much. You think your next loss will do it, but it's only a maybe, you know? I completely understand how the system works, I just wish it was more obvious. Regardless you should always try your best but knowing for sure or not if the next game will demote you would be nice/calming
There is a demotion series. If you lose 1 game at 0 lp you get demoted. It's not a surprise, you know exactly when you are getting demoted.
isn't just losing LP your series? It really can't be called a coin flip when you have to lose AT LEAST 2 games in a row to de-rank. Even the second you rank up you get that free lose before de-ranking.
then you shouldn't have a "win a few at 0lp" it should b if you would drop below 0 (as in you have 17 and lsoe 18) you automatically get put in demotion series then or if you hit 0 it triggers. You can have negative LP and that LP will b the amount negative after you fail (subtracting from the 100 of the tier below) instead of giving you flat 75LP. Seems fair if you want a demotion series. For example lets say im gold 4 19 LP and i lose 20 LP. Dang im -1LP in demotion series. I lose one game and im now -21 LP. Yikes. Now i win another and gain 20 back so back to -1LP. Now i only need to win one game and ill be +19LP and not demoted cool, but now if i lose i'm Gold 5 79 LP if i lose/gain 20L. See this way can hurt or help you since you may be above 75LP when you demote or you could be below if you lose twice. The only thing this does is it gives no shield which lets be honest if you can have a demotion series you don't need one.
I just had this.. i was in 3 promos into gold last week... lost them all.. to day i was up to 52LP then lost straight... i was only at 0LP for 1 game. lost that game and was demoted... its total BS.. they need to put in a demotion series just so at the very least people know that their actual ranked grade is on the line...
I've been on a 5 game losing streak with 0 LP, and I haven't been demoted.
Honestly that would spike my stress even further. Being in promos and having rough games is bad enough, but having this as well would be worse.
I personally think Demotion Series is a good thing since you gonna know when you gonna lose otherwise it feels like pure luck you didn't get demoted. Some times you lose 1 game and get demoted and feels really unfair When you get promoted you start with 0 LP and when you get demoted you go down to 75 LP without warning its pretty damn unfair
Another Idea is when you get demoted you instantly start Promotion Series so it wont feel unfair
Because it's already depressing being in the last 2 games of risking being demoted and seeing the clown fiesta that is every lane feeding so hard your 250 cs to the enemy's 100 doesn't matter because bot lane fed 22 kills in 23 minutes.
