That Support item price change is understandable but...

... if you wanted to limit supports to 2 potions, why put the price at 400 from 350? Before the update I could basically choose between Spellthief + Mana regen item for champs like Nami / Support item + 3 pots for things like Blitz / Support item + 1 potion + 1 control at start for zombie ward champs.

Now all I can do is 2 pots at best, shunning down every other choice you had to start the game? My go to choice for Nami was Spellthief + mana regen item item 1004 , since you had your sustain integrated to your kit, while you had better mana regen than the opposing supp, and needed less gold to get to Frostfang. You sacrifice some of the "no mana heal" the potion provides, but it was still a viable choice that kept my win rate as it was. Now you just can't do anything else than 2 pots. Well, except if I manage to buy supp item only, poke 3 times to get 30 gold and back to take the item to come back and help jg/bot. Which practically never happens.

Now, I get that 3 pots is a little too much, but the same thing could have been done if the items were at 375 instead of 350, while still keeping other options viable for supps.

Other supp mains or even other people, what do you think about these changes? Does it feel as restrictive as it is for me? Or are you not caring at all since you had only 1 build early on?

Well the main reason Supports are so oppressive is Ignite being too strong.

They nerfed pots, which were fine for ages, because they broke the meta they created by overbuffing Ignite. That's a real wtf balance there.

Not rly true... Not true at all.

it is true , you as a supp better off with ignite than exhaust now

why use heal, shield or CC when you can Point-n-Click halflife the Enemy instead with True damage, setting up an easy kill.

Death is still a rather effective sort of CC

Seems logic to me.

It's not "understandable"; it's absurd. Overall damage is absolutely crazy, yet they have already nerfed Heal, shields and tankiness in general. Now they gutted sustain, even more.

This means, mindless bursting in lane has been buffed again. Another job well done :D

Damage is generally more healthy and enjoyable than healing or shielding. Heals and shields, when powerful, means you just dont want to interact with your opponent. If you do, it will all just be mitigated, and you lost CS. When damage is prevailent, you do want to interact, as you can poke them down or outright kill them.

Its why raka is now heavily tied to her Q for healing. She needs to be up front and doing damage and playing risky to W often.

yup thats why now assassins are the best supports now ,just have to coordinate with adc who should switch to other champ anyway like a mage :D

Yup. I mention Support + pot + control. If it's at 375 it would make it 500 gold on the dot. Same for Support + Faerie Charm. 375 + 125. 400 just locks any of these choices, which seems weird to me.

3 pots is too much and makes early botlane trades worthless.

Makimoke11 votes

Yup, if you read carefully, you'll see that I agree on this point.

But upping it by 50 instead of 25 is too much. It limits the start of supports as a whole to 2 pots only, instead of some things like Faerie Charm, Control + 1 Pot...

As one trick Nami main this patch made my experience worst. I used to go item 3301 + item 1006. So far in the start of the game im having problem with health regen.

Norglics1 votes

same here but with the blue one + mana reg for my sona , if i fucked up i had to go back , if not then enemy out of pots and i got upgrade way before them + more lane present

I honestly hate the change. there's already a massive problem with each support champion having the same build and playstyle making them a lot less interesting the play and this change only enforces that.

I cant even build spellthiefs with a feacharm for more poke and an early forbidden idol at the risk of being more susceptibel to poke myself. Instead I'm forced to buy potions.

Well if they wanted to avoid supports buying 3 potions they could have prevented this by making it so that the first tier support item only allow you to have 2 potions

Yes it would be a very heavy handed way of doing things but it wouldn't have any effect on anything outside of starting with potions (though it probably would make it so that people would rarely start with 2 potions as they would rather have refillable potion since it only gives 50 less health)

what?! riot limiting options for support players and forces them down one linear path?!

this..like...never happened before! item 3306 item 3309 item 3312 item 3649 (/sarcasm) [zombie-brand-facepalm]

but seriously, I have gotten used to this crap.

I hate the price increase. As a support thresh main for a while before i switched to ADC/Sup maining, i would buy spellthiefs, vision ward, and one pot.

Yeah I had to be more cautious cuz of the one pot, but it gave nice vision that would last me almost 9~15 minutes on average. Now its just meh.

I go control ward and gold income now.

Reaper Soraka1 votes

on nami and raka I typically go spellthiefs pink ward unless I feel they have enough poke to wear me down equally as fast (Zyra for instance).

Or just gold gen and try to force a mutual back early.

I agree, 375 is actually ok. 3 Pots is way too much, however 1 pot and a control ward should be okay in their eyes. Ah well, Rito doesn't think before they do something, look at the jungle changes xD

Norglics1 votes

it is bs change , removed options from game start , now it is always 2 pots + gold item

Mokuto Bunshi1 votes

make it 375 and make bead cost 125?
