Malzahar Ult Issue

Lickmybubble··2 votes·711 views

I was recently playing a game as Malzahar against a Galio and ran into an issue with our ults. Twice throughout the game we ulted eachother simultaneously. However, only my (the Malzahar) ult was cancelled. Can someone please explain this to me? If one is a suppress, and the other a taunt, how would they not cancel eachother out?

in all likelihood he ulted first and you never got the opportunity to ult. Try to recreate it with a friend and see if that was the case. You should never be able to use them at the same time; aside from the fact that it's statistically near impossible to click at the 'same time', the functions of the ults should prevent overlap.

Near impossible it may be, but at some point it has to happen.

not twice in one game though...that makes it multiplicatively less likely to happen ;)

Its not a bug...malz's ult is like katarina's ult where they root themselves and are vulnerable for their ult to be canceled with cc such as a slow or taunt

I came to this forum to open a topic about this issue, but "Search" has proven useful :P

Anyway, Malzahar's ult has a brief cast time before his long channel time. During that cast time enemies can move closer and start casting their abilities. I think that these short cast times can't be interrupted and still go off no matter if you're suppressed or not. This is very problematic when Malzahar tries to ult a target that's casting a stun or silence on him. He just ends up wasting 100 mana and his ult CD. Also probably dies soon after.

Here are my suggestions; please reflect on each before dismissing them all:

  1. Remove Nether Grasp cast time. Especially weird when you fire off your combo and the target uses their escape ability (Leblanc , Tristana, Ezreal,...). It becomes an extremely long-range and strange death for them. The ult should apply it's effect immediately. Another problem are situations like casting Nether Grasp on Taric. The stun (Dazzle) has 625 range (from the center of the hitbox, not the end). Nether Grasp has 700 (also from the center). Taric can just walk to Malzahar and stun him since he can cast off his stun during Nether Grasp windup time.

  2. Or you could make it so Malzahar can't be interrupted BY HIS TARGET after he starts casting R. Other enemies will be able to interrupt him. In this case, Malzahar should interrupt Galio's ultimate. Now I don't know if Galio's ult has a cast time, but the mechanics should be similar and one ult should go off and another be completely refunded, based on who started casting first.

Bumping this since the problem still persists and is still annoying.
