Silence change/update

I have an idea to change the way silences work since Riot seems to not like using them in champions. Instead of making it so that you cannot cast spells entirely, change it so that they can still cast spells, but if they do they will take damage from the silence debuff. This change would have the same effect as the current silence but would make the debuffed champion still able to fight back.

What do you think?

Nothing is wrong with silence as it currently is. The only problem with silence is when a champion who has outrageous amounts of damage (Assassins basically).

So, no.

Except for the fact that Riot has removed a lot of silences from characters recently, and it is a very underused mechanic in the game.

Let's see

Kassadin. Assassin. Talon. Assassin. LeBlanc Assassin.

They removed silence from these champions because if they got just a little ahead, they could being to snowball like crazy because high damage + mobility. The silences in their kit basically allowed them to guarantee they'd get a kill and you wouldn't be able to get away because of their mobility and the fact that their silences were relatively easy to apply (LeBlanc had the hardest but it wasn't overly difficult.

Fiddle's silence was heavily heavily nerfed, no assassin.

Context; he still kept the silence, but he lost the ability to silence two targets for over 2 seconds each with a lucky bounce (or two people running away in the same direction).

Because he already has a 2+ second Fear and some ridiculous damage output.

1.5 second fear and 0.8 second silence*

I see 2.25 and 1.2 before the change where it can't re-silence a target.

Unless you're one of those people who thinks maxing Drain is a good idea. At most, rank 2 Drain if you're jungling is all you'll need. Then you either focus on champion killing (Terrify) or monster clearing (Dark Wind).

You have to subtract 35%.

Because everyone buys Tenacity...

...except for the hundreds, likely thousands, of people who keep posting threads that complain about Fiddlesticks' Fear lasting too long. And the who-knows-how-many people who prefer to avoid getting CC'd over reducing the duration.

I don't "have to" subtract 35% any more than I "have to" buy Tenacity if I don't want it. This isn't Season 1; other boot options are actually viable.

The way I see it, if you don't buy tenacity, you have 0 complaint about any CC. If you aren't going to build against something that you think is OP, then it must not be too OP to begin with. That is like a tank not building armor and then complaining that an ADC can kite him and go boom boom. Nerf all ADCs because I don't want to buy armor.

Oh, I agree that people don't really have a right to complain about CC's effectiveness if they willingly do not use the countermeasures available to them. That wasn't the point.

The point was that not everyone builds Tenacity, period. Some champions can't afford to fit it in their build (Vel'koz can't really afford to lose MPen for Tenacity, most Marksmen can't afford to swap Berserker's or build a Zephyr in place of other items). Some players play based on avoiding CC rather than weakening it; that doesn't mean they never get CC'd.

Telling me that I "have to" account for Tenacity when I have a roster of 120+ champions with multiple playstyles apiece is like telling me that I can't compare damage output without accounting for defense items and resistances. What guarantee do I have that my opponent will or will not build Mercury Treads or Zephyr (or if you're on TT, Moonflair Spellblade)?

I'm not saying that balance is done without regarding these effects, but I am saying that you can't guarantee that 100% of scenarios will involve them. It's easier to calculate based on the default scenario--that they have no Tenacity--if it's not something innate to every champion.

And he still has it correct? You seemed to have also missed by quote where i said when a champion who has outrageous amounts of damage which would most definitely apply to Fiddle yes?
