Azir Items, Masteries, and Runes

So I experimented with Azir yesterday and the most favorable build I found with him was:

  • 24/0/6 Masteries (5% attack speed and 5% CDR + AP masteries, movement speed and mana regen)

  • Magic Pen (marks), Armor (Seals), 5% CDR (Glyphs), MR/lvl (Glyphs), Movement Speed (Quints)

  • Berserker's Greaves (alacrity), Rod of Ages, Nashor's Tooth, Will of the Ancients, Rylai's Scepter, Rabadon's Deathcap

Substitute boots for either Sorcerer's Shoes, Boots of Swiftness, or Mercury's Treads as needed.

Substitute Rabadon's Deathcap for either a Liandry's Torment (if you are too squishy, they have decent MR) or a Void Staff (if they have a lot of MR).

If you can't tell I really like movement speed but you can replace the movement speed masteries with some defensive ones and the quints with some AP or attack speed quints.

Anyway, this is what I really liked on him. Does anybody have any critiques they would like to make? Advice?

idk, i felt like i had a strong early game where he just drops off significantly in the mid-late game because he is soooooo daaaammmnnn squishy, seriously, and i was lvl 13 and a lvl 14 alkali ONE shotted me at 85% health, also, his e is really buggy, i keep hitting the button and it seems like the skill has a random % chance of even being used, let alone working properly, the gap closing combo works to an extent but you haveto friggin damn near ninja fast for the combo to be used as intended.

All that aside he is fun to play though

I'm a fellow Azir player and have been going crazy calculating rune pages for the last day. I'm not sure how much cdr to put (thinking 6 blues and a quint for 15%), but I don't want to give up the AP. Also can't tell if mpen is doing more for me than scaling ap runes. Tankiness vs typical mage stats has also been tricky for me.

Oh and I agree about movement speed even more so with Azir. Since positioning is everything.

Is the above build order in the actual item order you get them in? I've been trying to get rod super early for the increased stats, but it's so hard to kill anything before at least boots or nashors (also interesting you went for berserker, does straight AS really add that much?).

CDR masteries are pointless on him (IMO). Azir is going to be maxing out CDR in-game so I feel dropping points into getting 5% at level one is kind of a waste. Especially considering his two big ticket items (Nashors and Chalice) both offer 20% CDR.

My build( by the way this build isnt in order): item 3115 item 3174 item 3259 item 3089 item 3157 item 3027 here is why... 1 - Nashors is pretty much core and gives a little damage when abilites are off cooldown. If I had to sell Ill take item 3152 for spell vamp for a loss of attack speed. ill get this if we are losing or fed enemy with too much burst or if i jungle azir( you should try it too.. ganks are easy by doing the w+q+e+r combo) 2 - Athenes gives CDR, MR, Mana Regen, and some AP which is very important ... here are some things ill get besides athenes.item 3003 to spam more soldies at the cost of lower MR if I get this i wont get rod of ages.item 3165 if im crushing/fed or if there is a tank like DrMundo or Volibear that got fed and is unkillable.Also if i get this i will aways get rod of ages for extra mana cuz i kno oll have mana problems. 3 - well i dont need to explain a replacemet is item 3279 item 3269 item 3264 i like this enchantment cuz it makes me run faster.If im pushed ill get homeguard.Any other enchantment in my opinion is useless. 4 - rabadons again no need to explain 5 - zhonyas again dont need to explain. 6 - i like rod of ages because of the mana but more importantly the health which helps out your e while also being less squishy. If i dont get item 3174 i build item 3151 for the damage and health and item 3116 for the health,ability power , and extra slow.
