Needing a Second Mid Pick

SnowScale··1 votes·2,186 views

Less a real post more just being a bit curious about who I should grab, Silver 5 yet My main role is the only exception to my normal set of picks. By that I mean I have options for every single other lane and can play each decently, 2-3 options for every lane yet for some reason Mid has been causing me issues, I'm basically one tricking my favorite champ [sg-ahri-2] Out of Lower ranks but having trouble since there are so many laners I just can't fight, so basically I'm just asking for advice on what a good secondary to learn would be, At least to cover the bases That Ahri won't.

(Haven't cried against a Galio myself yet~)

Syndra does well into pretty much all mages . Lissandra does well into most assassins .

If you're already playing Ahri that means you've got a pseudo assassin as well as just a general assassin counter.

The other types of mids fall into the AD assassins, Long Range Mages, CC Burst Mages and DPS Mages. I recommend staying away from DPS mages for now just because they tend to be a bit harder to play and really not necessary in a meta focused on burst. You can't really go wrong with long range options in low ELO since people don't know how to engage so I'd focus there first.

Long Range Recommendations: Lux, Vel, Xerath, Ziggs

CC Burst Mage Recommendations: Annie, Syndra, Orianna

AD Assassins Recommendations: Zed, Talon, Pantheon (I highly recommend staying away from Yasuo in low ELO)

I was very much thinking about Syndra, I've technically played a loooot of Lux, but she never really clicked with me Never seem to do enough damage, Though I think Syndra would be quite a good decision, Longer range and reliable moves as long as I position myself right correct?

I've played Syndra only a few times so while I can tell you she's highly viable, I'm not qualified to really give you advice on her. I will say though laning against her it seems to be all about landing her stun.

As for Lux -- I have successfully played her all the way to low masters and damage should really not be the issue. How are you building her?

SnowScale1 votes

Eh the usual more recommended route Usually Luden's into morellos then rabadons and such It's less her damage is not there more it takes to long to really get it off in the game unless I get fed quickly, As Ahri I'm always sure my burst will do about 2/3rds health when i get my kit up, Lux makes me feel a lot less sure about landing the damage for some reason

Kaioko1 votes

Try skipping over Morello and rush Rabadon unless you actually need the healing reduction. Also you shouldn't really use your ult with Lux until you land the bind so shouldn't be too big of an issue.

SnowScale1 votes

Eh, Rushing Rabadon's might help out, But most my enemies tend to know about my ult, so the only time I can catch them in a bind they have full health so I can't really do much~ besides poke them down low enough with my burst to shove 'em back

Maybe try Leblanc? She isn’t as safe as Ahri, but her burst rotation and roaming is godlike. And she can escape ganks pre-6!

That was an idea I was having, but I Wasn't really sure about her myself, Though I think I played her before they did a few changes so she might be a bit easier for me to pick up now. Any advice on how to get used to her quicker if I try?

Learn your burst “threshold” at any given point. If you can gauge how well you can burst any one person, you will become godly with Leblanc, as she has a relatively free escape.

Other tips:

  • Unlike Ahri, Leblanc spends more of her power budget in “no counterplay” burst, this means no Q heals... but a corrupting potion start and early dark seal can remedy this issue.
  • Last hitting is a nightmare and wave clear is a nightmare, so grab Minion Dematerializer and be prepared to use your abilities to last hit.
  • This is offset by her roaming, which is great as she has potentially 3 seconds of hard CC to lock down a target. Aim for squishies and either W-Q-R(Q)-E-W(2) or go for tankier targets and go W-Q-E-AA-R(E)-AA-AA.
  • If you are able to land an E, your early game trading is deceptively strong. Remember to use auto attacks. -As with all assassins stay FAR AWAY FROM CC. No matter how delicious that jinx looks if there is an Alistar nearby you will probably die.
  • Try to end the game early. Late game her combos become far more focused around her E, and as such you are reliant on your adcs to break through their front line. If you can land a Q-W most squishies will die, so keep that in mind.
  • The general build for me is: item 2033 -> item 1082 item 1001 -> item 3802 item 3020 ->item 3285 ->item 3916 ->item 3089 ->item 3135 -> utility/damage/upgrade to morrellos
  • Have Fun!

One last thing: Basic Combos: E->Q->E(2) Lane poke Combo W-E-Q-E(2)-W(2) Risky Lane poke Combo W-Q-E-W(2) Slightly Safer Lane poke Combo Q-R(Q)-W “Delet” Combo W-E-Q-R(Q)-E(2)-W(2) Full damage fast Combo

(There are 3 reasons why you usually want to go E-Q and not Q-E in Lane:

  1. Baits enemy dashes and flashes
  2. Makes getting the Q proc/Backloaded E damage more consistent.
  3. If the enemy is willing to trade, you have a much easier escape and “warning burst” to keep them off of you)

After playing about 15 games With Le'Blanc I'm still heavily unsure about her Xp I've been playing drafts and trying to practice with her and it makes the lane Feel Super dangerous~ As It seems most champs will just back out so i can't poke them without diving close enough for their cc to guarantee a hit, and If not that I either have to commit to a dive or save w for getting out of a return one, And THe Problem Is I can't really roam if I both don't Win lane or Have enough hp not to get one shot in return by the enemies~ So Eh, I'll take another look but it seems to be going downhill each time at least for myself~

If you build with corrupting and Dark seal you should usually always have enough health to gank. Don’t feel too much pressure to win Lane, as Leblanc is far stronger when roaming. If you feel that you use W to reposition more, put 3 points into Q before you max W. If you are aiming to get kills out of lane, try to Q-W the minute you get to level 2. Then at level 3 do a W to reposition, then an E-Q-E(2)-Ignite to hopefully get a kill (depends on lane). However, roaming is incredibly important. Incredibly important.

Ahhh~ That would probably be my problem as While my laning is usually very decent in all forms I have quite some issues figuring out when to roam and actually doing it, it always feels like I'm going to fall behind, Or i should just push and take tower if I get a kill instead of leaving lane to catch up, I really do need to look for a coach on that kinda of stuff, and Thanks for all the Advice, Le'Blanc very much looks and plays like someone I'd enjoy~ Just hard to get into of course

To address the lane thing: If you get a kill in lane, cool! However, you don’t need a kill in lane to be able to roam. I would say push the lane in a little, then choose whichever lane an opponent has pushed in. Don’t stress too hard about the lane; Leblanc suffers a lot in lane. Instead of trying to mitigate her weaknesses, play to her strengths. Also it can feel that you don’t have the damage/aren’t fed sometimes when you are. Doing a quick Q-W-E on a jungle creep can give me a good idea if I am falling behind or if I am up to par in burst. As a rule of thumb (with all assassins) aim for the target that has built the least magic resistance. While a shen may seem tanky, if he has built no MR he will pop like a balloon. Lastly, play Leblanc as a semi-support semi-assassin. While yes she does have copious damage, she also has a 3 second root. When roaming, bursting the carry is sometimes the right option, but sometimes keeping both the carry and support locked down for 1.5 seconds can lead to a clean double kill. Behind or not, you have that invaluable CC.
