Skin Shard Activation, Consumption, and Rental

The hextech skin shard section in the game client needs better in-client explanation or a warning pop up that the shard will be consumed when activated for rental. This is the original description and this is the revised description style that I recommend.

I made the mistake of activating a Traditional Karma skin shard that I desperately want to buy. I believe I could have conducted research prior and prevented the mistake, but I think the league client is incorrect in clearly explaining how the skin shard activation works. I should not have to do extra research to figure it out.

I sincerely ask that Riot mediate this and re-grant me the chance to purchase the Traditional Karma skin. I already contacted Riot support with REQUEST #21009952. I also hope that until properly clarified, any other summoner with this problem is accommodated. TY and GLHF.

I definitely agree with your argument LewisRedmond. I myself had the same experience with Zombie Brand.

I had gotten the shard and I wanted to see the Skin Spotlight for it. After watching the Spotlight and noticed it was no longer available in store, I wanted to Active Rental for 7 days. I said to myself "Oh cool, they allow you to rent the skin to see if you like it enough to buy." I also assumed, after rental, it would become a skin shard again in my hextech crafting and Riot would give me another opportunity to purchase the skin, or Upgrade as they say.

Yes although, I do feel i should have done more research as well in renting a skin shard, I also feel there was a lack of communication on Riot as well. Once I rented Zombie Brand I never got a warning that the skin shard would no longer be available after the 7 day trial period, and whilst playing Zombie Brand I never got a pop up to offer purchase of the item either. I think it is a cool ideal to be able to rent the skins, but Riot should have definitely placed a warning of some sort letting their fans know the skin shard would no longer become available after the rental.

Because without my Zombie Thriller dance, I no longer want to play and that is sad to say, but I thoroughly enjoyed that skin, and like it more than the ones he has available now.

pfft, it was pretty obvious you would consume the shard, maybe if you used your brain.

I agree that it is very unclear that the skin shard will be consumed. I was hovering the Activate button and I almost clicked, as I expected a pop-up to appear confirming the activation after I clicked. However, I didn't want to risk it and I googled it first, having this thread come up. I'm sorry this happened to you and I'm glad you posted about it, or maybe it would have happened to me as well if I hadn't found any info about it on the internet.

Its not a problem, its quite clear in Hextech crafting that it is not permanent. Quit the salt and suck it up.

Hi all. Got a champ shard from a chest today. When I hover over the shard, it says it is activatable but I can nothing with it. What does that mean???? Bard

I rented sad robot amumu Amumu and slayer jinx Jinx from skin shards. but when the rental was over they weren't in my loot. please help me
