Riot: Lifesteal champs and Executioner's Calling/Grevious Wounds
Hi Riot,
In patch 4.20 the balance team decided to remove executioner's calling. Unfortunately, this has made lifesteal champs very difficult to deal with for melee physical damage champs that do not have grievous wounds as part of their kit- leaving the options for dealing with them very limited (ignite only). Before, you could purchase executioner's calling and maintain parity with Aatrox/swain/fiddle/vlad/warwick (and mundo to some extent), now its impossible as their damage + heal will far exceed the damage you're capable of inflicting upon them. Literally, if you cannot burst these champs, 100-0, they are impossible to beat because of their excessive sustain.
Now, I'm sure the balance team had its reason for removing the item; but Executioner's calling had a very real strategic niche. Riot has repeatedly stated that it encourages counter play- given that stance, how does one counter the "impossible to kill due to healing" scenario? Sustain beats poke, and without grievous wounds it is quite capable of beating burst as well. All this, of course, is nothing you don't know, but I'm just curious as to the reason you decided to remove the niche item that was designed precisely to help counter the exact situation I outlined above. If you don't mind my asking what reasons exceeded the counter-play that this item provided? Also, since this tactical option has been removed, what is the correct counter-play to the outlined scenario without ignite?
If someone could answer this, I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance from a summoner who loves your game.
