Gold MMR but could not skip Silver 2 to Silver 1

So, I have been making my trek to gold and I have been doing quite well. I just finished my series in Silver 3. When i went into it I had 1,470 MMR, or low Gold 5 and I had 1,521 when I finished, higher Gold 5. Yet, when I completed my series I was only promoted to Silver 2 instead of skipping to Silver 1. Why is this? Is it because it's my first ranked season? (I've lost 2 of my last 15 ranked games, getting 25 LP per win, losing 12 if I lose)

Your MMR has to be significantly higher than the next division to skip it. 1470 is actually Silver MMR.

Okay thanks for the info, I was going off of op.gg's MMR rating

Op.gg is only an estimate, so you don't really have any way of knowing what your MMR is. But a good way to tell is from your LP gain/loss. If you're getting 25 per win and losing only 12 in losses, then your MMR is much higher than your current rank indicates. That doesn't mean you will skip divisions though.
