Is Garen a Kled Counter?

I was playing Garen top lane today against Kled, and I realized that once Kled is off Skaarl, Garen's ult can kill him after Garen does a little bit more damage. Tower diving on him once he got off Skaarl was easy, as you can just Q then E then R. This was just one match, so there are a lot of different variables that can be at play (especially that the player was probably not yet good as Kled), but I feel like Garen is a good counter. This was my first time playing Garen as well, and I got an S-, so I feel that there might be something there. Feel free to look into this match-up further.

Garen counters nobody anymore, but gets countered by everybody.

i love it when people play Garen, i just pick Teemo, max his W first (movespeed), that way i can kit him, even better if you rush a FM and Torment vs him, theres nothing he can do but try and flash Q you.

Its only movespeed... if you have more movespeed + slows.... you WILL out run him.

It means you did not play vs good Garens. I can beat teemo without problems, no matter how strong he is.

A low elo Riven, sure.

A plat+ one trick pony Riven ? Nope.

The Rivens I play now are dedicated Riven players. This is a skill matchup slightly in Garen's favour still. However she can play it right and dash in, proc thunderlords then dash out safely.

id say most champions beat kled once hes off his mount. mainly due to the fact that he only has 2 abilities.

skaarls hp also count towards kleds max hp. so if kled is dismounted hes technically at like something around 40% to 20% max hp. thats why those abilities are able to kill him when hes dismounted.

it doesnt make garen a counter necessarily. it just means you have him at low health and the ult deals damage to him like it would to every other champion who is at low health.

also, while kled gets dismounted he goes untargetable for a second. id like to know if the ult gets absorbed when you hit him during that moment.

If Kled is just about to lose Skaarl, if you ult him, Skaarl will fully absorb the ult damage

Of course, Garen gets an advantage against any Noxian champ. Unfortunately every Noxian champ gets an advantage over him as well.

Garen is an okay counter to Kled, but if he lets Kled build some items( item 3071 and item 3748 for example), he will have a tiny bit harder time against him. I've been thinking about Singed into Kled, cuz if Kled loses his Skaarl, Singed can just ult and do the stun combo on him and kill him without much trouble
