Can someone explain the whole placement???

Can someone from League provide an explanation about the whole placement system? I play a lot of league, I'm no pro obviously. Past 2 seasons, I've finished as Gold 4 and Gold 5, even after starting both as Silver 3, having been in placement games with various AFK and trolls.

This season, I perform 9-1 in placements. Do extremely well in them with really positive KDA, good farm and just solid wins.

Guess where I end up, BRONZE 1!?!?!! How the hell does that happen. I read somewhere that how you do in placements puts you in a range from how you finished last season. So given that I did 9-1, I would have hoped to be Gold. I don't mind Silver 1 or 2.

BUT BRONZE!!?!?! Serious.

Looking for an answer. Hope someone knows something about this.

This is really a bummer. I really enjoyed the league, but this is just downright annoying and to be honest, this really makes it easy to quit since I think this is downright stupid.

Everyone starts lower. I had terrible placements on my main and 4-6 gave me P2 from D4. On this account I went 7-3 and landed G1 from P3. Everyone drops, it is just how it works. If you want the climb easily, just wait it out a few weeks or so until everyone falls into place. Right now you might notice you are in B1 but going against a bunch of other people that were high silver / low gold from last season. In a few weeks you will be going against people that are B2-S1 from last season and then the games should be easy.

I feel ya man, i think the reset might be slightly more punishing this season because of the promo helper. Don't worry too much about it, if you're really gold, you'll quickly reach gold again.

In previous seasons the formula for the reset has been (MMR + 1200) /2. They may have altered that formula for S6, but nobody knows their exact MMR, someone could be gold 5 but have the average MMR of a silver 2-3 player.

Everyone has to deal with placement games and everyone is treated equally (based off their MMR not their actual rank), so just hang in there, in a few days, weeks or months you'll be back in gold again!

Thanks for the comments. Unfortunately, I don't think I will have the patience to work my way all the way back up.

As we all know the pain of going through repeated promotions only to have someone troll or simply go afk because they don't get what they want. I am lucky if I can get 2 games in.

I can easily see how some players can really get frustrated and will push some to just leave the game.
