When Sylas came out I tried to lane him and just didn't think it felt good, but jungle was super satisfying. Unfortunately because of the nerfs aimed at pro play for Sylas in solo lanes, his jungle is now buttcheeks and I think Riot said he was intended to solo lane so they are unlikely to go out of their way to make him work in the jungle.
