Why Akali rework shouldn't have gone live
Let's first look at riot design principles for assassins: -They need a reliable way to get to their targets -they need a way to burst them, however riot doesn't want oneshots -> assassins need some defensive tool in their kit so they can stay alive for at least 2-3 seconds so they can succeed with their delayed burst pattern
- assassins need a way to get out after their assassination (for whatever reason)
considering these principles, reworked akali is well designed. No oneshots, can still assassinate, can get out, is useless after using ult and w.
The problem is that the design principles are bullshit. Why should a champion be able to escape after diving into an enemy team? Why should they have more than one "get out of the fail" cards? Also, while many of the boards will disagree, i think that "delayed burst" is not healthy for the game, as it forces overpowered defensive tools on a squishy characters kit (not only akali W, but also ekko ult, Irelia W
