Lets address some of these "boards solutions"

(DISCLAIMER : I HAVE NOT PLAYED THIS GAME BEFORE SEASON 8) if this invalidates my entire post, thats fine but i hope you'll read anyway.

I've been noticing a lot of people don't like the meta this game is in. People have come up with some great solutions but i don't think they understand the problems most of them would create.

I'm just going to start with this one because people seem to like this one the most. "Runes Reforged was a mistake" "Just revert runes reforged" Okay yes, the new runes do have plenty of burst and anything with conqueror is going to give you a bad day but lets not forget certain champs like Shaco would have an even harder time than they do now. This would also benefit champions like Vayne and Akali who have like 3 different passives while other champs who rely on these runes would be left in the dust. Runes also gave champs like Mordekaiser and Malphite a new playstyle they couldn't get with the old runes system.

"Damage needs nerfs across the board" "Buff defensive items" i'm going to try to be as non-biased as i can with this one. Yes, it does feel like at any point in the game, Garen can become as dangerous as Zed but i can guarantee this would end badly. My main champ is Twitch and while i do agree, walking behind the enemy team and taking out 4 people by pressing R isn't a good sign that defensive items are in a good state, i think certain champs would benefit more from it than others, and then the game will end up even more unbalanced. Let me give a few examples:

  • Warwick would become god.
  • Urgot this one is self explanatory
  • Darius Jax and Irelia would become slightly more annoying
  • Gnar would become even more painful

and im well aware i mentioned champs that build Bruiser items and the solution suggested was to buff Defensive items but its not uncommon for champions to switch their builds as the meta changes. Another note about this one is the "tank meta" was a time when high mobility champs weren't as common as they are now. It doesn't matter if an 26/0 Chogath builds every defensive item in the game, he still wont be able to touch lategame Kaisa. honestly i could go on and on about why true damage would make this solution irrelevant but lets just move on.

Oh boy, my favorite one.

"Nerf marksman" This one isn't as common as the other two but ive definitely seen it being said somewhere. Marksman aren't the source of the game's problems right now. Again I agree, its slightly frustrating thinking "Their jungler is top side, they cant take drake" only to find out that the enemy Lucian decided to solo it, but who else is going to take objectives? its actually beneficial to have the adc be able to take objectives as the team takes care of things elsewhere in some situations. And we've already seen what the game would be like after a marksman nerf. Remember patch 8.12?

These are just my thought but im not a "lol veteran" so point out any errors you find.

Runes reforged took out the ability to tailor a rune page to fill in a champions shortcomings - player based agency - in exchange for a fragton of free AD, free damage, true damage, and in-combat sustain. Reverting runes reforged isnt about getting rid of the keystones, its about giving players back their ability to customize and the individual depth that comes with that.

  2. Buffing defensive items is a complex problem because of riots continued (and very poorly thought out) support of the bruiser archetype; a bruiser is a champion with tank level CC who has good base stats AND scales. Their main stats are AD+HP items, and when tank items are good bruisers can afford universally to buy 3AD+HP items and two tank items while being tankier than a dedicated tank. You fix this particular problem by reworking bruiser itemization and adding caveats to tank itemization... But before that can even happen riot needs to clearly define bruisers and rework accordingly. Gragas, Poppy, and Maokai for example are most definitely bruisers. Mobile, high base stats, high base damage, high scaling... And yet according to riot theyre supposed to be part of the true tank group.

  3. Marksmen have warped the game around themselves since the introduction of crit and the removal of dodge. Their power creep has only gotten worse over time, and their last round of nerfs were justified. Fixing them, unfortunately, is as complex as fixing tanks because they are integral to the game and riot wants them to be universal lane bullies while hyper scaling. Marksmen are all about game-feel though, and at the moment reworking storm razor into an AD+crit (40AD, 25%ASP, 20% crit, 20% MS for 0.5 seconds on crit) item to give marksmen a 3 item core will dramatically improve that feel... Because at the moment theyre actually pretty balanced, with exceptions for champions like Ezreal, Vayne, Kai'sa, and Jhin.
