Lately I have been seeing post on how OP Kalista is but not that long ago a lot of people considered her trash tier, now I know she got a buff this recent patch but is that one made the difference. Here are some example of what I'm talking about. "What's wrong with the state she's in? She's pretty balance if not slightly underpowered, imo." "her dmg is miniscule compared to other adc's. stahp it." "I'm going with no. She has enough free movement as to be essentially immune to melee champs and a significant number of the short to mid range AP mids if they cant blow her up in 1 combo." This one getting down voted alot

Every time a new champion is released one of two things happen.

a) The people playing against the new champ don't adapt quick enough and get crushed the first two weeks and they are claimed to be OP as all get out. i.e. Aatrox Darius Vi Velkoz Sion

b) The ones playing said new champ don't learn the champ quick enough and the champion is seen as woefully under powered. They then get better later, possibly after a buff (or bug fixes), and they explode all over the Rift in a rain of hellfire and laughter. i.e.Kalista Azir Gnar newSona

You mean like Zed Yasuo Gnar Lissandra Azir Lucian and every champ who isn't just "face roll to win"?

Do you even remember the "why would I use Lucian when I can use MF??" Posts?

The biggest reason she's been seeing such a spike in play is that she was played successfully in the LCS. In combination with her recent buff, suddenly she's seen as OP.

I played her a lot before Sneaky played her. I saw potential in her passive, so I got her asap and fell in love. She is so strong, and I cant see why people cant see that. She can out-kite ANYONE (except maybe Yi), and this makes her incredibly hard to play vs without having a team dedicated to shutting her down. Anyway, she has always been very strong, and idk why people only now are seeing it.

My post will build on what the other two posts here say and try to explain my opinion on WHY it has taken this path.

Here's the deal; Kalista is weird. Like other complicated champions (Hi there, Yasuo), it's taken people awhile to figure out exactly how to play her. In addition, teamwork makes a big difference with her ultimate, so if your teammates aren't familiar with her, she still won't do well.

Now that she's been out awhile and people have had the opportunity to play with her, I think most players kind of understand how she works. That means she's going to be more effective. Personally, I expect to see a similar curve to Yasuo

Step 1: No one knows how to play her. Some, if not most, consider her trash. Some people see potential and continue to try Step 2: People figure out how to make it work. Some small buffs help with this, and she's considered OP. We are here currently Step 3: Buffs reverted (or new nerfs) to address her strength, and she'll be somewhat balanced again. People who are good with her will be scary, but most people will just suck with her at low elo and talk trash about her kit.

I could be wrong. This is a prediction. But right now, she has just been figured out and people are gonna be playing her.

You also have to consider new builds(HAI Hurricane kallista) that have an interesting interaction with the champ that make her seem even stronger than she is, kallista is strong but the hurricane build makes her seem god tier. give people a few more weeks to figure out how to stop her from kiting them into oblivion, let streams show this happening and all will be right again.
