Is this toxic?

I played a normal game today to try Tahm Kench top. Things didn't work out, the enemy beat me, I was 0/3. I was sitting under my tower, and the enemy Veigar who was just 0/0 so not really fed or anything, came top and use his E, W and Q, miss, then go back to midlane. I was astonished of this, so I told him something among the lines: "You're so stupid lol" "Why did you come top when I was under tower with nothing to do to me, you just lost xp and farm". Then the enemy Warwick who was 4/0 or something like that said "0/3" and Veigar responded next: "Shut up noob". So, me being insulted, I told him he is even more stupider for not taking advice in. He continued to mention my score and his which was getting bigger. Anyway after that he muted me, so nothing more. My question is, was I toxic for calling him stupid in the first place, then telling him a few more times he's stupid after his response?
