Is it even possible to get constant 144fps anymore?

Thought the lower fps had something to do with my rig not being up to date anymore, but I recently bought a high end pc with a 1080ti and an amd 2700x and i cant get to a constant 144fps. Runs nearly every new game at a constant 60 fps in 4k but league is another beast entirely i guess.

Your eyes can only see at 60 fps anyways, so I don't see the problem here.

That is factually incorrect.

Mmmmmm, no it's not.

Show me a study where it says that it is not true, because i can show tons of studies that say a human can see up to 1ms, which is essentially 1000fps

Show me a study that doesn't say exactly what I stated.

If you google "human eye fps" literally the entire first page is nothing but threads and articles debunking the 24/30/60 fps myth(s)

He links to a study where the average young adult has about 15ms delay. 1000 ms per second / 15 ms increments = 66 FPS.

It's pretty unlikely the average person would notice the difference between 144 FPS and 120 FPS.

It's a 15 ms delay between the eye registering the image and your brain processing it. You dont divide, you subtract. and that would only be in relation to response time.

Because eyes doesn't see in frame per secondes? Those studies are just estimation and vulgarisation but it doesn't work like that at all.

Ok but no typical human can see that many, average is like 120, 200 is well trained, 1000 is kind of... Ridiculous.

GXayah1 votes

It's kind of ridiculous, yeah, but when are things we do not?

But either way, my point still stands, Vuxem is incorrect

Doesn't matter if we can only see 60 fps in video games.

The higher amount of fps= the faster the game responds to your inputs.

Terozu1 votes

No, no that's not true at all.

At least not in online games.

Pretty sure most games as well but definitely not in online games.

You can see more than FPS it's just 60 Hz monitors only show 60fps...

wildfox9T5 votes

yeah, this is what people who never tried a 144Hz say

actually you do,and once you get used to a 144Hz monitor the difference it's big

"you dumb as a brick". Nice.

League scales horribly with newer hardware.

I get 144 fps @ 1080p on a shitty gaming laptop from 2011.

Pillar Of SaIt1 votes

I dunno I play on an RX 470 and get 150-220 fps

You sure you don't have VSync on? FPS not capped?

Mr Bob Boberson1 votes

I can get around 150fps, and at least 100 constant on something worse, I have no clue what the issue might be

wildfox9T1 votes

i have the same problem with 2700X + RX 580 (slightly overclocked)

it may be the AMD CPU,some dev refuse to optimize for AMD and RIOT is enough lazy to be one of them...

Because everyone LOVES those old fluorescent bulbs with magnetic ballasts that flicker at 120Hz.

amd 2700x

there's your problem.
