hey there guys, i was just wondering how i will be placed with the soft reset. about 2 or 3 weeks ago i was low B4 but was able to climb all the way up to my silver promos last night but just ran out of time to be able to finish all of them. i mean, is there any chance that i'll be put into silver after my 10 placement games or will i just have to suck it up and get to the silver promos and then move up from there??? i tagged a link so that you guys that know what youre talking about can see kinda how well/bad i did. i mean, i know im not great but ya lol still learning! so any help would be great guys.

I believe the elo you were at last season dictates the MMR of the people you will be matched with. You will probably get put with Bronze 3 players and the more you win the higher the people you'll be matched with . Suppose you win all your games, then the game will put you in high silver/low gold.

well i actually never played ranked last year. i started to play league last year and only played ranked this year! like i think i played... 6 ranked games in season 5 lol

If your MMR is significantly higher than the rank you finish at and you do well in placements you can end up higher than you finished. Last season I ended in B3 and got B1 after placements this season after going 8 and 2. The reverse is true if your MMR is far enough below the rank you finish at; it is possible for it to be low enough that even if you win all placements you still end up much lower than you finished. Season 4 I ended Bronze 1, and placed into Bronze 5 after going 8 and 2 in placements.

TL;DR: MMR at end of preseason can easily trump placements and the rank you finish with means nothing going into the next season if you do not have the MMR to match it.

hmm okay... so right now, im B1. if i were to get to say... S1 before the new season (i believe is december 7th) would i be put into mid/high silver then???
