I Hate Playing ADC now.

I spent most of last season and this season learning the ADC role.

It is absolute misery to play in Solo Queue.

First you have to pray the league God that he sends you someone who is willing to support and not just filling in the role. Unless you duo with a good support, which is rare to find, but lets be honest if you are in a duo you are way better off sending them to another lane / jungle.

Now my main problem is I am effectively useless vs the new Tank Meta until I have 3 Items (upon completion of LW).

I understand the concept of positioning, I understand the concept of Kiting. I'm just finding this insanely difficult to do vs. Champions like Amumu, Sejuani, Nautilus, etc. You can only dodge so much CC before something is going to Land.

It wasn't so bad when these champions required their team mates to kill you because they lacked the damage, but now I find they can basically 1v1 me unless I have IE, PD, and LW, even then some of them can still murder me.

Usually when I watch team fights now the following occurs. One of the 3 tanks on the enemy team flashes or something to engage on me. They Push R. I last for about 4-5 seconds, while doing minimal damage to them. I die.

Same thing usually happens to the other ADC on the enemy team. Then we sit and watch as 3 tanks fight 3 Tanks for a few minutes.

I'm not sure what the answer is, but I don't feel like I can deal enough damage in a role designed to deal damage, I usually have to be very far ahead to do so.

I think the following things are prime problems though.

  1. There are tons of ways to apply CC, and only a couple to prevent it / reduce it.
  2. The ADC build is insanely expensive vs. the tank build. So if you want to build IE PD LW
  • Greaves

~ 9900 Gold

I mean a typical jungler tank build Skirm + Cinder FH (or Rand) SV or BV Mobi / Ninja / Merc's

~8500

Now granted the case used to be that these tanks weren't really able to do damage, so the tank items needed to be available sooner to let them stay in the fight longer. I understood that. I just don't think it is the case anymore.

Now you have a jungler who can smite you for 20% reduced damage, usually has an ITEM + level advantage on you. If you don't really win your lane hard, you aren't going to be able to do much. Heaven help you if you lose lane, there is almost never any coming back.

I don't think the ADC role is insanely weak, there is just not a lot you can currently do before getting blown up. It almost feels like every class in the game was designed around destroying the ADC.

Should I just break down and learn Vayne?

Doesn't matter if the enemy is a Bruiser or a tank. If your the team's carry, you really shouldn't try dueling the enemy.

An ADC particularly because their defense is solely reliant of positioning and kiting.

If your the ADC, Stay with the team, stay behind your tank, and let them soak up the enemy CC while you lay out constant DPS. That's what you have to do as a glass cannon. You arn't a duelist. This is particularly important because you may very well be the only one who could reliably destroy the enemy tank.

You think you are useless, try playing a non meta mid laner

ranged ad are ridiculously overtuned. if you have problems, then its probably because people lack teamwork and dont know what peel is around silver rating. both of the teams usually just try to dive the opposing adc while compeltely ignoring their own.

otherwise, they ARE supposed to have a weak early and midgame and only become strong lategame. so thats just a part of playing adc that you have to accept.

If you're getting blown up, that is due to poor positioning. I don't have problems playing adc when 1- I'm bad at adc, and 2- I even usually play ezreal who people say is the worst at killing tanks. An adc is only as good as their positioning is, if you don't want to learn to, I suggest just playing a split pusher then.

You just need to position better.

Doublelift can win 100 silver games in a row probably, but he never needs to because he'll carry out in 5 games.

If you were doublelift, you wouldn't be silver.

Also, have fun while the 5 viable tanks in the jungle only meta lasts because that's the only time you will ever have good peel on your team. Otherwise, GL with typical low elo team comps like Riven Udyr Zed Vayne Annie .

Vayne would make your problems worse as she is the lowest ranged ADC in the game. Watch Imaqtpie stream, that guy literally makes every bad situation a decent one.

You should be able to get a descent amount of gold as the ADC. The problem arises when their Top laner is also pretty much just stacking armour. So you have their Jungler and Top laner trying to get you, while you are usually left to fend for yourself. You are supposed to be your team's consistent damage dealer, so it is vital that your team mates prevent you from getting killed very easily and provide some type of peel so you have time to shred the enemy team's tanks. And don't get me started if those tanky players actually get an advantage in the game early against you, because you feel powerless against them. Vayne is actually not as good against tanks as you might think, since she still has the same problem of not having enough time to shred through the enemy's armour-stacking front-liners. Her W is great, but if you have enough time to proc it more than once against an enemy, then you would be able to kill them on most ADCs. If you get focused, she will die very fast. I recommend Sivir, since her spellshield can help against popular champion's engages.

I've been playing a lot of Ashe lately and I have to say it's nice.

I used to feel the same way as you, and the support issue is still a major problem, but Ashe actually brings a ton of utility and pick potential at all stages of the game so you can make a big difference in the early game before you get your 3 item spike.

While I think you are right, i don't think its a terrible thing for ADCs to not completely stomp at three items anymore. Start positioning more like this

adc/ mid.......supp/tank......engager

makes it a lot harder for a flash stun to come throug. Just dont leave your engager out to dry if they are suddenly engaged upon.
