Kayn’s timer for “other form” after unlocking his transformation should scale dynamically

Basically, I was thinking about Kayn’s transformation. I typically take red Kayn, bc all around I think he’s a better champ. However, say I get in a game with 4 ranged champs and one melee. If I don’t want the 4 minute timer, I am forced to practically ignore several lanes so I don’t have to be damaging ranged champs.

So my solution would be dynamic scaling of the “secondary form” timer based on enemy team comp. the more ranged champs there are, the shorter the timer for red Kayn should be, and vice versa. If the enemy team is entirely ranged or melee, both forms should be unlocked simultaneously.

It doesn’t seem entirely fair to me for a Kayn player to be put in a bad situation by circumstances that have absolutely nothing to do with the enemy teams skill or how they’re playing, and simply from the champions they chose alone.

Once you get your form the other form goes on a 4:00 cooldown, but damaging any type of champion will reduce the time. I think it is fine the way it is.

Close, but you have to damage the right type of champ even in that scenario.

I understand that you prefer the playstyle of Red Kayn, but a core part of Kayn's design is that he can flex mid-game to suit his enemies. If there's a ton of ranged enemies in the game, Blue Kayn will typically be optimal. Ranged champions usually have less health than melee champs, so the burst is better than the lockdown and sustain of Red Kayn.

The situation you're describing isn't Kayn being put in a "bad situation by circumstances", it's you being stubborn and only wanting to play Red Kayn. Blue Kayn is just as strong as Red Kayn, if not stronger. The transformation timer and the enemy comp isn't holding anybody back, you have just created a bad situation for yourself by not learning how to play the other half of your champion.

I’ve learned both, actually. Preference towards red Kayn =/= can’t play blue Kayn. Also, almost everyone I’ve talked to about Kayn has agreed that red is better in almost every situation.

Counters and bad situations for champions exist for a reason. It helps to balance those champions and tell players "Maybe there's a better choice against that composition," such as if the enemy team has like Illaoi and Orianna and you pick Sylas, or if the enemy team is all AD and you've picked Galio, or if they're all ranged and you've picked a melee like Darius. Bad compositions to play a certain champion against DO exist, so asking for handicapping and hand holding against bad compositions takes away the importance of picking your champion wisely and only serves to candy coat the game for people who don't make great choices.

So no, dynamic scaling for Kayn should not be a thing at all. Instead, you, the player should learn how to play BOTH of Kayn's forms optimally so you can adapt to the enemy team compositions just like he's intended to do.
