Toxicity is killing League of Legends

I have played LOL since season 1, and as the game grows in popularity I have only seen the community deteriorate. Now days I have to force myself to give it another chance every time a friend invites me for a game, and about 60% of the time i'm let down by the people I come across.

The game itself was not designed as a solo player experience, but every game you play you seem to find those "solo heroes". Those adc's whom after they clean up the 5v5 fight announce "see what** I** can do for you". It no longer becomes a teamwork oriented game, rather a competition within their own.

The absolutely absurd comments that run through chat only perpetuate the disconnect within teams. You consistently see blame put on others rather than constructive criticism. For example; the mid laner that gave away first blood was then grieved at by the adc. He no longer calls out the mia mid and the adc dies from the gank, at which point he continues to blame the support whom later afks the game. How many times has this happened to you? And the cycle continues...

My recent experiences of the game have led me away from playing ONLY because of the toxic community. Every time I try to give it another chance i'm blown away by the immaturity and lack of respect to other players. I understand the internet is a cruel, ruthless world due to the lack of face to face interactions. Like in any real life situation, can we please learn to leave our own problems at the door. Please stop bringing your personal negativity to the game because people are here to enjoy the fun competition and teamwork the game is suppose to bring.

The problem is that this will not fix the issue. A team game requires communication, just not a negative one.

That's why i /mute all for a little while then i /mute all again so their negativity doesn't affect me. During this time though I still type in chat because muting just makes it so that you can't see their chat, but they can still see yours. It also gets you in the habit of using pings rather than game chat.
