it's come to the point where if I were to pick akali she would instantly get banned by MY teammates, simply because they "don't like playing with akali because she's underpowered"... and there's a huge problem, where if she's as shit as right now, she would be too underpowered to be played, but if she was actually good (which she never really was but okay) she would always be banned by opponents...
No one wants to deal with her. The rework was a failure. Get over it. She got the same treatment all the high skill cap ops got. Only difference is her player base is massive. :/
I've been thinking this as well. Her shroud is STILL too unfun to play against due to how long it lasts, the sheer size of it and how quickly she re enters stealth after attacking (an issue accentuated on higher ping). These issues really haven't yet been addressed and any time she becomes slightly viable, she is going to enter the same insane ban rate she had before. Honestly think they need to go back to the drawing board and think of a new version of this shroud.
Welcome to Riot reworks, their glorious "We rework champions in some cases like Aatrox and Akali because we have to keep them weak because they are extremely oppressive when ahead and hot shit when behind" mindset, which then they let CertainlyT even near a champion so you know it's just going to have 3 paragraphs explaining the 13 things each ability does, so it's even worse of a 'oppressive ahead, and shit behind' minus the shit behind part since it's hard to be garbage while behind when you have as much cc as they always do.
It was funny. The player base was like “make akali take turret shots,” and so it was done. But then Riot went crazy and took away the heal.

People have been dodging a lot of my games after I pick Akali.
The problem with Akali is that she is inherantly unfun to play against because of the nature of her kit and that no amount of number changing is ever going to make her fair and balanced to play against. The biggest glaring issue with her kit is most definitely her W, even after the nerf where towers can now target her while she's under them.
Then again, CertainlyT was the one in charge of her rework. And he made Yasuo, so there's that too. At least with Yasuo, it's possible to lock the bastard down.
She's gettng hella buffed pretty soon so don't worry. :D

When you remove her heal and her Shroud power, guess what? Riot's going to increase her numbers and decrease her cooldowns to makeup for the drop in utility.

If they bring back the heal i think she would be a lot better again. The heal was essential in old and new akali IMO
im an akali main rn and im having small success with conq + timewarp and biscuits. you can cheese level 3 with conq, its fairly easy to get the 5th stack. just use q auto w q auto e e auto and then ignite and kite them w autos. other than that she kind of falls off late and its hard to carry.
you really have to work harder than most champions just to get an average reward. shes so fun though so thats the reward we get for playing her.

she was extremely strong before 9.3 tho
and she has a ton of buffs planned for next patch
Akali is really good because she can survive or win every lane phase in the game (which even famous lane bullies like draven, pre nerf zoe and old school lee sin) couldn't do because they had some matchups that just destroyed them. She also has a useful kit (at high enough elo) because of her cc cancels, dueling, splitpushing and teamfighting vs hard engage comps (read, not poke). Not to mention she is one of the true 6 item champions of LoL, right up there with draven and malzahar. The 6 item tank isn't THAT different than the 5 item tank or the 4 item tank. The 6 item vayne isn't THAT different from the 5 item vayne, but the 6 item akali is a totally different beast than the 5 item akali and can be almost a victory condition unto herself when played by a good player.
she's not so far from being viable tbh...
next buffs coming are going to help her a lot (for the record : her ult CD will be 100/90/80 instead of 120/100/80).
her ult CD wasn't too high in comparison to the others champions, but Akali almost never buys CDR (sometimes on 
or on 
) but she rarely goes over 10%, making her effective ult CD quite huge compared to other champions.
she needs the scaling with minutes time to be invisible in shroud bullshit to disappear (why not make it scale down her R or W level ????)
and after that, we got an assassin that got clear weaknesses (laning phase), that got a clear powerspike (6 and so on against immobile mages) and can ACTUALLY play midgame, or whatever the game phase before min 30 is called.
she doesn't need to be invisible under towers, that was just under League's most basic rule (aka towers protect you)
I am confident she only needs number changes at this point.

My proposition to fix her more.
Q- Remove the slow, give the spell a real cool down, bring back the healing W- revert to true stealth. decress duration of shroud near turret, ( azir soldier style) Max 3 second duration E- Give this spell more importance by using E2 for micro stun (no more slow so, thats the only ''cc'' you got except gunblade) R- Targeted ( no more using R to dodge freely ) One stack that reset on kill and assist
This would bring back more of the core akali. Resets and healing. and less on slowing some one to death.
