May I ask for some advice?

So I've recently returned to playing Xerath, due to the prior knowledge that at one point I was decent on him ( Decent for a Silver player mind you. ) I've been running middle in soloQ trying to get prepped for S6 and I would like to know going in a few things;

I've been noticing Xerath getting a power spike after I finish Ludens, is that when I should start abusing the enemy's range gap because it's his power spike?

Are there items I should/shouldn't buy as him? I know some items, I'm thinking Liandry's, aren't good due to his bursty nature.

The regular build I run is; Luden's, Rylai's, Rabadons, Hourglass, Sorc boots and an item based on their team comp ( Athene's if AP heavy, ( or fed middle ), if I feel the risk of getting caught GA, or Void if I need to burst harder. )

I've also been wanting to pick up Lissandra, because she seems like a lot of fun. Is there anything I should know before I start learning how to play her?

I'm not trying to be bad, I'm just trying to improve on my champion pool ( Which only consists of Veigar, Malzahar, and Lux ), so I'd appreciate any tips or advice General has.

You should all ways abuse the enemy when you hit a power spike. Milk it for all it is worth.

As far as Liss, I can't say to much as I don't play her but from what I can tell being able to manage your mana pool is key to her lane phase. One your done in Lane or get a mana regen item this doesn't become as big of an issue.

Xerath is a long range Siege mage. Your primary goal is going to be poke and waveclear. Similar to Ziggs, but not quite as mana reliant thanks to his passive. I'd build him pretty standard for a mage. AP, Mana item, Void staff, And Ludens work well for the poke.

Lissandra is what I Would consider an engage mage. Similar to Kennen. Provides a quick engage, and Moderate AoE Damage and Disruption. Because you want to take advantage of the Utility in her spell, you probably want to build a little more CDR than other mages. And because your going to be engage on a fairly squishy champ, Hourglass is a must. That in mind, the engage mage has lost a lot of power to tanks. Because few Squishy targets get put on the back foot, when you try to engage, While a true tank can engage without worring about getting blown up.

I actually mained Lissandra all s5. She's not really that great against tanks and bruisers (since her damage is comparatively low), but she does wonders against assassins like zed and katarina and fizz etc. Rn since your pool is pretty low, I'd suggest you learn TF, morgana, ahri and annie.
