How Aatrox could be reworked
** Overview** Judging from what I read in his lore Aatrox’s design fantasy seemed to revolve around the brutal beauty concept that Jhin accomplishes at the moment. I couldn’t seem to get the passive and the ultimate to go with that but I tried my best to give the basic abilities a somewhat gracefully gruesome depiction (as best as I could with words).
** Passive** • Rework Blood well so that it interacts with the death of units around him instead of his own health. • Let the Blood Well grant an AD and attack speed boost while removing the resurrection. (I may or may not have good enough reasons for this)
** Q** • Jumping into battle is Aatrox’s thing since he seemingly appears out of nowhere; therefore, it can’t be an obvious, easily avoidable skillshot that takes a year and a half to finish. • I’m thinking of something similar to Akali’s Dash but shorter and with an additional effect (skillshot of course). • Lore hints at his blade being alive but we see none of this. So what if his dash is a line skillshot that travels at about the same speed of Leblanc’s dash but upon reaching his location, after a very brief delay he stabs the earth with his blade that uses blood to create spikes that knock up enemies in a small circle around Aatrox. • I thought of keeping the knock up because that goes with his theme of a diving fighter. He needs a good engage tool if he is going to accomplish that. • The damage from the dash is split. 75% of the damage is dealt to enemies hit with the first part and 25% to the other part since it is mainly for the knock up. If this would be a two part ability it could open it up to being very flexible (like his sword).
** W** • This is in my opinion should stay an auto attack modifier since his main weapon is his sword. • This could be a three hit ability (woohoo percentage health damage -_-) that each attack has a different effect. • The first effect could be a mini stun, something between 0.5 and 0.75. (A heavy overhead bash) • The second effect could be an armor shred for a certain period of time. (A precise upward slice that seems to rip into the enemy.) • The third effect could be an area of effect swing where his sword extends and swings in an arc infront of him where the target is that deals extra damage and slows enemies in the radius.
** E** • Aatrox currently has the problem of “When I go in how am I going to get out if things go wrong?” which isn’t like him since he always seems to vanish without a trace (definitely not invisibility, though I might change my mind or you would make it invisibility after the new stealth mechanic is released). • Vanishing doesn’t always mean that the object disappeared, it could also mean you lost sight of the object. What if Aatrox had a blind that functioned similarly to Quinn’s blind in an area of effect around him but with a catch. • What if he used their bloodlust to blind them and while they are blinded for let’s say 1 second, if they right clicked on an ally while under the effects they would attack them. • Sounds crazy but what if the cursor reacted normally i.e. being normal while over an ally and being the red sword while over an enemy to have some form of counterplay.
** Ultimate** • Could possibly let his ultimate interact with allied champions in the way he empowered Tryndamere (Nothing like undying rage please, there is enough revival and immunity stuff in the game) as it is said that he empowers mortals to fight. • Have his ultimate synergize with his passive so that units killed by his empowered ally(ies) will count toward his passive and maybe have his passive affect the ally(ies)? Instead of giving them full benefits you could give them a fraction. • This may sound a bit loaded after taking into consideration the other effects of the ultimate; but, what if the enemies around the ally(ies) that become affected by his ultimate are feared on cast for a split second similar to the way Viktor’s ultimate does it. • This seems a little lackluster as a steroid ultimate so what if the passive effects are doubled for Aatrox while the ultimate is active. • What if the ultimate gives the target(s) magic resist and armor that scales with their missing health since the men Aatrox empowered seemed to fight with renewed ‘endurance and will.’
** Conclusion** This rework idea revolves around Aatrox’s role as a diving disruptive fighter, being able to change the tides of the battle with his presence as a tanky damage dealer who becomes even more lethal during siege fights leading his team into battle with a bit of ‘style’ having a nice combo with his abilities.
