Stealing kills and dividing gold.

This is just something I would like people to consider when playing. I call this the Darius effect and it happens when you lose because 1 champion has most of the teams gold. If you have any thoughts please comment. (Apparently the term Darius effect already exists.)

When Darius was first released he was an unstoppable beast with 4 Black Cleavers (back then the passive would stack) and he could take on any champion top lane. However the win rate was still pretty low for such an overpowered champion on release. The problem was that many player who picked him would use his ultimate to steal every single kill for themselves. This caused mid-late game team fights to have 1 fully equipped Darius and 4 champions that had barely 2-3 items. The enemy team on the other hand would have their gold divided evenly, so when they focused Darius down with crowd control, the other team had 4 champions that were much weaker. In other words Darius became a Raid Boss and the rest of the team was his minions.

There are plenty of other champions that can lead to this kind of play style, like Nidalee, Katarina, Jayce, Lee Sin, and Riven.

Often when playing champions that have executing abilities like Lee Sin's Q or Nidalee's Take Down these players will hold on to their spells during fights to make sure they get the kill. This wouldn't be a problem if that champion has a slow start, but once you get 2 or 3 kills ahead you shouldn't worry about last hitting champion kills. Your team needs gold just as much as you do, even if you are playing a carry. If you are in a skirmish and you hold back to make sure you get the kill that could be a deciding moment that could cost your teammates life. Holding on to most of your teams gold will make you the highest priority on the enemy team. That means you will get focused and most likely stunlocked until you die, leaving your team which has far less gold on average then the enemy team. Now many of you will think that you are so good you can carry any team as long as you are fed with your favorite champion, but it doesn't always have to do with skill. Even great Katarina players can't win team fights against teams with a lot of crowd control. So if you notice that the enemy team has good counter to you, try to let your team get more gold to catch up.

Another problem comes from denying farm from other players. If your top laner is behind and you push their lane out, it will hurt them even more, since they will have to leave the safety of their tower to farm and were denied the farm you took. The same goes for jungle creeps. If you are a carry and you see your jungler nearby, don't start taking jungle creeps. Not only will you lose more health fighting the camp, but you also get way less gold from the creeps. Stick to lanes until the mid-late game.

Feels like you are confusing Darius' release and League of Cleavers. Either way, Black Cleaver has always been a unique passive and multiple copies on a team all contribute to the same debuff stack.

Darius wasn't overpowered, just really snowbally (Ult CD is up when you walk back to lane), just like Riven and Ahri before him. He was nerfed only because of soloQ.

Darius was very OP on release. Even riot admitted to him being OP and players have been using that as a running joke since. Also when they first reworked the Black Cleaver's flat armor pen could stack and the armor shredding ticks would stack for each Cleaver you had, meaning with 4 cleavers a single AA would give the target 4 stacks of armor shred.

goliath, superstar, messi mode.

it shouldn't matter early on in a solo lane kill with a jungle assist it is still the kill gold, + half the kill gold goes to those with assists. so that is still 150 gold for the one with the assist, and however much you've denied by pushing the minions into tower.

in a bot lane a single kill from a gank is more problematic for gold distribution, if the support gets the kill and the jungle and adc both get assists that is 75 gold each they get. and whatever xp and gold they deny.

later on in teamfights it is more important a target is dead than who gets the gold, but obviously those players who save cooldowns to jack kills are just plain dumb and don't really care about winning the game, more about inflating their KD and trying to get multi kills.
