Everyone knows riot doesn't actually try to balance this game.

False.

In patch 8.4, we pushed the activation time of Stopwatch to 10 minutes because its prevalence in professional play was delaying or inhibiting early action. In 8.10 we tried a lower value (8 minutes), but we've begun observing the same impact on pro play, so we're reverting those changes.

This is definitive proof that Riot balances the game around pro play.

They balance through professional play.

I am convinced they literally have no data, they just sit and watch LCS vods and make balance decisions.

Ok sure but why8/8/2018, 3:32:46 PM2 votes

By "Professional play," they mean, "Esports." The professional players have no say in what they think will "look cool."

Well just because the professionals do not like it, does not mean that Riot is not doing it for professionals... or that professionals would like what is good for them... or that Riot would know either.

How is that a contradiction? You can do something that you believe is for the good of another person, and that person can still hate it. Case and point: feeding vegetables to a picky eater.

Pro players would rather there only be 1 patch per year. Theyve also been playing for years, people eventually get burned out.

The reality is that riot balances for all levels of play.

What the professionals do and don't like isn't what's important; it's what the spectators like that's important.
