Is it me or does swain's entire rework just feels like an excuse for a nerf.

Ironically, swain was (and still is) marked as a 2/3 difficulty champion, which he isn't anymore. The difference is, old swain had good sustain every 20 seconds and a straight-forward point and click root that decides your chances in getting a kill or not. However, new swain has an awkward root that ONLY roots the first target hit on its WAY back. Very nice, any average skilled player can dodge that with the time it needs to actually return back to swain let alone deny him this ability completely around minions. I mean its pretty easy to dodge Ahri's returning Q, so lets make that Swain's main root?

Any swain player would know that if you missed your W root you could sometimes trade with his 0 cast time Q slow. With new swain, you miss your E and you should be useless. Landing your short range Q (full damage potential only close up) and your W (a decade cast time) without having a root is very hard making new swain really useless at parts. His ult is now played depending on the stacks he gathered that makes it a MUST to land most of his abilities or he'd end up blasting a weaker Vlad E on enemies every 100-ish sec cool down.

IMO, swain did need a graphical update. But his ability rework is a clear overall Nerf to how simple his kit was. I can't even say new swain is harder but more rewarding. They are mostly gonna be playing around with his CD and damage percentages like how they did this last patch. That doesn't change that his entire kit is pretty bad though.

Pretty disappointed.

It actually explodes in a small area, if you'd ever played him you'd know that. And it's very easy to land if you abuse the fact that you can make it instantly explode at the end of its reach by shooting it into a minion wave, giving you a free tug on people in lane as they try to farm.

With new swain, you miss your E and you should be useless.

So a champ has counterplay. Big deal.

Landing your short range Q and your W without having a root is very hard

... and why is it a bad thing that a champ is hard? Should everything be a mindless statcheck?

So you are saying his root is as straight forward as his older AOE root, because standing between minions as you farm makes his root "very easy to land".

It seems you didn't understand my point here, old swain had counter-play too. New swain is punished heavily for missing his root compared to older swain for the reasons I listed, but again you think its "very easy" to land his E so to each is his opinion.

I am basically saying old swain had a simple kit and wasn't graded as a harder champion. New swain is harder and not as rewarding. No one said it is a bad thing that a champ is hard.

This thread is a comparison. You are taking new swain and looking at him as a completely new champion. I'm not.
