High ranked (d5+) elo decay + "shield"

So, I just recently hit D5 and don't really feel like climbing anymore, since d5-4 is the land of bought accounts and elo boosted accounts, but I have a few questions about how the decay system and the "shielding system" works. Since I just got recentely promoted, i have a 10 game shield where I can't drop a league from 0 lp, and this lasts for 10 games. Do games played in that time stop elo decay?
