Wrong Runes and Masteries

I am sure we have all been there, we get into game and to our surprise we notice that we forgot to switch the runes and masteries for the champion we are playing.

Although hopefully this isn't a common occurrence for you it is nonetheless a frustrating and game changing experience.

So I have a proposal for your riot. Allow players to preset their masteries, rune page, and summoner spells for certain champions. So if you played Leona support last game and this game you are playing Sivir as ADC your masteries, rune page, and summoner spells will be set to what you have preselected for the champion. So in case you forgot to change those settings during champion select you won't be handicapped with support characteristics as an ADC.

Of course certain champions can take different roles or modify their role depending on the situation they should still be able to change their masteries, rune page, and summoner spells in champion select so that they can fit their desired role. This proposal is just a safety measure to prevent mishaps when players forget to change their settings during champion select.

Rather than having to pre-select anything, just make it automatically remember the rune page, mastery page, and summoner spells which you used the last time you played that champion.

Most of the time, you want to use the same setup each time that you play the same champion.

I had to play with AP runes on Khazix. You don't know the struggle until you're passive is doing more damage than your primary damage ability

TenSlashTen3/27/2015, 1:37:35 AM3 votes

its even better when you change them but then they change back somehow before the game starts. rofl.

Do you wipe your own ass or do you want your mom to do that for you too?

Dumb everything down more and more so it becomes fair for people like you.

No thanks.

Or you can keep it the way it is and after you got your role setup, remember to change them, you can name them for who uses them, or what theyre for, I doubt Riot would actually cater to something like this, another problem I see is there is 30-60seconds of free time in Champion Select after choosing your champion to select these and get it figured out, so either you aren't paying attention or you are one of those people that just leaves until its their turn to choose, and then you lock in a champion without saying where you are going or what you're doing.

While this wouldn't solve issues like taking my mage vs AP versus a talon, I'd certainly rather have some AP than be loaded out in my ADC runes. Wholeheartedly agree.

UPfreely3/27/2015, 3:12:44 AM2 votes

it would be nice if we had a book of presets for each champions and could have like 100 of them or something. we could then even share our presets with our freinds and forumers to see what people are doing right/wrong :D

BakedLotion3/27/2015, 3:14:01 AM2 votes

just make it so u can change them for the first 30 secs of the game

kcStranger3/27/2015, 5:03:47 AM2 votes

Summoner spells doesn't seem like such a big deal and could be weird in draft, but having default rune and mastery pages would be nice. I have 20 of each so sorting through them can get pretty harried when I lock in late (e.g. in blind pick).

i like this idea

Umbral Light3/27/2015, 12:40:37 AM2 votes

Yes, I want this. Do you have any idea how bad it can be to play Zed with the Mastery Page of a tank? So many kills I missed because of that missing damage!!!

+1

Not opposed to this but there are other things I'd like to see worked on first.

Åron3/27/2015, 1:30:23 AM2 votes

This would be really nice. A small change can go a long way.

slôw3/27/2015, 7:14:42 AM1 votes

Or you could just... fix it externally? Spending time on a feature a small portion of players will actually take the time to use (like item menu whatever thing) is pretty not helpful, especially when you can use sticky notes or get better at remembering and not have to use the feature.

things get added in order of impact, and this would not have much impact

slippykitten3/27/2015, 4:03:16 AM1 votes

a better solution would be to give the player the option of setting runes and masteries before leaving the fountain at the start of a game.

MarshallBananna3/27/2015, 12:38:05 PM1 votes

this should have existed from day 1.

At the very least, the game should remember your last mastery/runepage combination for each champion.

Missing Number3/27/2015, 12:55:04 PM1 votes

would be nice, what would be nicer still is presets per champion, sometimes i play 1 champion 1 way, sometimes i play that same champion another

but yeah, this would be a start

LOL Spammer3/27/2015, 1:40:57 PM1 votes

Or be able to change runes and masteries in first 30 or so seconds of game.

Pastramka3/27/2015, 1:53:04 PM1 votes

Good, like it

GGMystic3/27/2015, 2:05:20 PM1 votes

This is just speculation, but I think Riot already has this under their large list of QoL changes to be implemented in the "future". I base this solely on the fact that you can create custom item sets and associate them with champions.

Celeste Benal3/27/2015, 3:07:37 PM1 votes

I agree. We can have custom item sets for champs. Why not custom rune pages and masteries?

EvilRabbitt3/27/2015, 4:24:15 PM1 votes

So many comments with downvotes, its amazing. But I do have to agree, you will probably end up swapping your runes and masteries. I personally change mine midway if I feel the mood to just enjoy a match take me, so I'm personally fine with "tank katarina" as someone below said. My 2 cents, no disrespect op.

tempname129c3/27/2015, 4:24:38 PM1 votes

Too bad RG's too busy not giving a single fuck while collecting everyone's monies.

Otherwise, this'd be a great idea.

Dilitra3/27/2015, 4:48:40 PM1 votes

A simple fix would be have a pop-up appear after all characters have been locked in that is a reminder. I mean, technically there already is...so maybe make it bigger and more central? And have the ability to where if you have minimized your game it will put the screen back up like it does when a queue pops.

youngjake933/27/2015, 5:03:34 PM1 votes

I like ease-of-use improvements. However, ideally people should change their masteries based on the match ups(it won't matter for most ADCs, but for everyone else it does). For example, the 10% resistance to slow mastery is useless if none of them have any slows. It does seem like you're adding something to the interface that could handicap you for using it all the time. A good game designer probably doesn't want fluff on their interface that is only semi-useful sometimes.

I don't think this is a bad idea, but I figured I'd give you constructive feedback that wasn't LOL WHAT KINDA N00B CAN'T REMEMBER THEIR RUNES AND MASTERIES

I like the idea that someone mentioned of just having rune and mastery selections default to the ones you used last on that champion rather than the ones you used in the last game. That should help without altering the interface and you can just change it if you want a different page.

Lobode3/27/2015, 8:13:09 PM1 votes

I think it would be nice to have a small window of time that you could change runes/masteries (and maybe even summoner spells and skins) at the start of the game. Then after that time you can still view your stuff but not change it. Or make it so that you can change stuff until you leave the fountain. Either way would be great in my opinion but I would hate to have people constantly changing stuff through out the game.

Drunk Rummate3/27/2015, 8:16:24 PM1 votes

This happened to me in an ARAM once on Vayne, so I decided to build full AP just for fun.

Lich Bane + Nashors + Deathcap + Void Staff + Sorcs

I carried. LOL. If only Luden's Echo existed back then... would have been even better!

FantasySniper3/28/2015, 12:23:54 AM1 votes

I want champ preset builds so bad. +1

im s0 bad3/28/2015, 1:33:33 PM1 votes

I think the problem is that people name their pages something stupid so that they can't tell the difference between any of them. But I name my pages after which role or champion it's for. And I've never forgot to change my masteries/runes after that.

Gwellaouen3/28/2015, 2:18:37 PM1 votes

No. It's fun when I don't take the right runes/masteries. Like, being an op Thresh Support. XD Or a tanky adc Tristana.

Anyway, it's only my opinion but I always make good things happen after a mistake and always having fun.
