Bard Doesn't Suck

Honestly, Nobody can play him right. Everyone says he's a troll champion and is the worst support, but he is actually a really good support and if you play him right you can be amazing. I'm not meaning to brag, but I believe i'm like one of the only people who can play bard, and everyone is always surprised at how good bard is. So don't just toss him aside and say he sucks, give him some time and eventually you'll grow to believe he is an amazing support.

I'll take your word for it at face value. What makes him good though?

I also looked at your op.gg. You're playing with Bronze 4 and 5s. So it might be that you're good and everyone in that elo sucks.

Bard's major Strong points come from his flexibility and catch potential.

A Good bard can cut off enemy options using his ultimate, ruin enemy engages by ulting their followup, and lock down opponents with his low CD cc.

E is a powerful flanking tool if you use it right, and can be used for Mass escape/Chase if your team recognizes the intent.

Bard has a good kit, the issue is the burden of knowledge to play as and with him. If Bard tried to make a catch and you start throwing your damage combo, Then yeah Everything is going to fail, but more often than not this isn't an issue of either player "fucking up" but rather a lack of communication leading to clashing outputs. With good coordination, Bard has fantastic teamfight presence and can set up kills incredibly well from an insanely long distance. Also Bard is unique in his ability to stall objectives by Stasis a la (turrets, Dragon, Baron) allowing for potential followup assuming his team is positioned correctly.

Match history of Bard starting at most recent:

  1. Stomp. Weather you got the ADC fed as hell or they were just that good to start with I wouldn't be able to tell. The enemy was clearly bad in either case. Only one that did well KDA wise was Nasus with a 4/5/1. But his CS for a 37m game was trash. While Teemo had 301 but 1 kill to his 12 deaths. IMO this game cannot conclude anything on the power level of Bard.

  2. Win. Not as one sided as the last game. But you did face a 4 melee team with a Teemo. A Teemo who rushed Void Staff. I think he was support given he has FQC. Again cannot conclude anything.

  3. Loss. Of your team, you did the best. Team comp was bad on your end overall. While you did do well on Bard. I think that was more personal skill than actual champion viability. Even a release Thresh couldn't save you(IMO).

  4. Loss. You personally didn't perform all that well. Team comp was better but IMO Yasou didn't have much of a place in it. If you had a different mid you may have won. Going by this game, Bard was weak. Given your performance so far that is.

  5. Win. Looks like the enemy Ez left the game judging by his scores.

  6. Win. Looks like enemy team had a troll or was doing something stupid. No support, no jungle.

  7. Loss. Top preforming on your team. Looks like enemy Kat got fed and snowballed hard.

  8. Loss. Somewhat poor team comp. Had a plat 5 and diamond 5 on your team vs their one gold 5 (+3 lower rank). I believe team comp lost this one for you. They had a much more powerful comp for going past lanning.

  9. Loss. Your team did bad. You were the second worst performing. Enemy Ziggs seems to of gotten fed. Their team comp was stronger as well. Looks like many things went wrong.

  10. Loss. Had a Veigar(before recent buffs). We'll leave it at that.

  11. Loss. Enemy ADC got feed. Team comps somewhat even overall.

  12. Win. Enemy Ezreal was even fed. Probably should of shared some kills. Not seeing anything special Bard wise. Although it was a 44m game and Bard does preform better as the game goes on.

  13. Win

  14. Loss

  15. Win

Overall I'm not seeing anything about Bard that is winning or losing your games.

  • A few were because of a champion getting fed.
  • Couple were either troll teams or had their own trolls in them. At least one with an AFK on the enemy team.
  • As a support, you personally are doing well. You seem to ward often. And tend to sail or sink with your ADC. If it was a Bard thing you would be preforming higher more often even with bad ADC's.

In short. Bard is still in a bad spot. You might be preforming well on him. Maybe he just fits your style. But I could see you doing just as well or better on most supports.

I'm not exactly saying i'm the best bard in the world, I just see a lot of people saying he's horrible and not that good of a champion, he just needs time :c

I actually don't mind Bard, but his scaling is sh*t.

Playing him Full AP makes him pretty useless as the game progresses, and building him as a Utility Tank doesn't benefit his scaling - it just means you last long enough in a fight to throw out more than 1 Q.

His W should scale off his Max HP at the very least. And his ultimate needs a much faster/no missile speed.

He isn't bad at all and he's getting buffed as well. There's a reason Aphromoo has an entire match history of Bard wins on his Zabumm acount.

Didnt a little birdie get called "shit" on release? Oh, whats that, azir was called a terrible champion until people started to learn him?

_>'' Bard doesnt suck. Hes very fun to play and has a unique niche as well as stellar utility; he lacks offensive capability like most recent supports and that hurts him.

Not Just Azir, try S4's terror ADC Lucian. When he came out no one thought he was good. Everyone called him the shittest adc, and with Jinx hot on his heels, most people just didn't care. Funny when he became the most terrorizing Carry that season, even to the point of them having to rework his E and cut his AA range.
