Any Darius mains out there?

Hey guys,

I am super super bad at this game, so opening this thread to hopefully get a little help. I was playing Nasus just now against a Darius. Now because I am the worst player in the world, I lost lane. I need help with the following:

--When I went to get stacks (Q) he would Slow me, AA, use his circle move, AA and i'd be on about 20% health. I'd pop a corrupting potion, try to get some life steal back and poke with my E. If i went for a stack, he'd drag me in and do the same. I had to play safe, and hug turret. --He froze lane, and by the time a gank came, he was able to back and first buy a Phage. --I continued hugging turret as to not feed him, however at this point he was able to dive me consistently at turret, even with wither applied. --By the time he'd dived me twice, he was able to take on 3 of us when ganks came in.

Obviously I played it super bad but was looking to see if anyone could help me on this.

Thank you very much for opening my thread and I appreciate any replies <3 :)

Honestly, I'd probably recommend maxing E into Darius for poke/waveclear. While your stacks are going to suffer, you won't be able to stack easily anyways without risking death.

If you need to, build one or two Doran's Rings for mana sustain into CDR items. You can stack later in the game when splitpushing, so just try to survive the lane.

i usually try to bait them into a q onto the minion wave early on. if the darius is dumb enough hell fall for it and push lane.

proceed to freeze infront of your turret and stack in comfort where he cant reach you and is overextended. makes him also an easy target for jungle ganks.

even if he gets a bit poke on you infront of the turret, he cant seriously all in you in that spot.

nasus is probably one of the few champions in the game who loves siege master, as he doesnt want to fight at all before he doesnt have racked up about 200 stacks. that 8 armor mr near hs turret is pretty good for him.

Darius L7 Champ Mastery Main talking here.

First off, in champ select, you find yourself facing a Darius and you were hovering someone he HARD counters, but you HAVEN'T picked yet, it would be best to change your pick to someone else. Some suggestions I have are Yorick Sion Jayce Riven Quinn as potential choices.

If you find yourself facing a Darius as anyone he HARD counters, try to get help from your JG. Remember, Darius has no real escapes aside from summoner 4 , and if you get him to burn it, you have an advantage. Try to let him over-extend, if he gets cocky and does, punish him for it with the (hopefully) help of your JG.

If you can, try to get to the INNER circle of his Q when he uses it to deny the heal and boosted damage.

His W often gets used AFTER he uses his E, to keep you from gaining enough distance to avoid his upcoming Q.

Try to bait his E, if you can. It has a long CD if you can get him to waste it.

Build HEALTH, not ARMOR, to counter his R, because the more HEALTH you have, the longer it will take him to get you low enough for his Dunk to kill you. (This isn't to say avoid building armor entirely, it's just the more health, the less True Damage is effective.)

If you want to know more, I can tell you more.

Ive found a pattern that most Darius' use and have learned to exploit it while playing Nasus. Generally, once you walk into range the Darius will immediately pull you to him. He will then procede to auto W then walk away and catch you with the blade of his Q. However as you walk into range of Darius' E, use your wither on him. He will still pull you and will get the AA W off, however the slow slows his AS meaning this takes longer. As he tries to position himself to catch you with his Q the slow will be so strong that you can just stay within the handle distance and he fails the Q every time. After that you just stay on his ass wailing on him until you kill him.

btw. if youre decent at Garen , the lane is a skill matchup.

its all about the timing of decisive strike to cleanse his w, and dodge his q by spinning into him.

and you hard counter him midgame. basically when darius actually does what he wants to do, and gets rolling, he becomes the villain and you can shut him down hard.

if youre new to garen, the lane is ass though. wouldnt recommend without practise.

Marks- Lethality Seals- Scaling HP per LVL Glyphs- Scaling/flat CDR for 10% at lvl 18 Quints- Armor

Masteries can be 18/0/12 or 12/0/18. warlords allows you to sustain back up really fast on a few minions if you are low. but Grasp is usually better b/c you want the tenacity from the Resolve Tree. I've used both successfully vs Darius.

You must learn to read Darius and his moves. Bait out his AOE and pull and he will auto push the wave. Siphoning Strike empowers your staff for 10 sec I think so you can cast it, walk up and then walk back to bait an ability and still stack.

First buy should be cloth armor and 4 pots. First back get glacial or kindle gem, ideally both. Next back sheen. NEVER, I repeat, NEVER go for Trinity Force. As Nasus our gold income is usually limited and we need defenses. IBG is cheaper and stronger on Nasus as it allows him to push waves to towers faster and win trades earlier. By opting for TF and FH you spend almost twice as much gold and the game could easily be decided by then and your damage may be for nothing. Unless you lane against a potatoe who gives you 4 kills early never buy TF.

IBG, SV and Mercs or Tabi are your first 3 items. Mercs are good vs Darius to negate the time of his slow and pull. Tabi's are good as they reduce his AA's by 12% but only get if they are all AD on the enemy team.

My typical build is this vs Darius. item 3025 item 3065 item 3111 item 3075 item 3053. Last item is situational but this provides you a ton of power vs Darius and will allow you to 1v1 and most likely 1v2 or 1v3 depending on how fed you are/ little you died early.

I find Darius lanes to be more of a skill match up then hard counter as Nasus but I play A LOT of Nasus. Hope this helps!

Edit- Don't discredit Thornmail as a viable item on Nasus. B/c of his Life steal and scaling damage the extra damage you reflect back makes you win trades a lot harder than you'd think. It is great when the threat from the enemy team is melee focused.

As Nasus against a hard ad counter I use armour marks AND quints, with scaling hp runes. Substituting armour marks instead of damage gives a marginal tradeoff for cs and makes it a lot easier to survive those few early skirmishes in order to farm and earn stacks. Darius has some nice true damage and his E gives some armour pen, but that stuff doesn't really set in until later.
