So I was talking to my friend (IGN: PiwiNinja) about ranked and we both just finished our promos for solo/duo queue. He won 7/10 and I won 5/10. However, he got Silver II I think? and I got Bronze 5 even though I won every single match I think I should at least be Bronze III or II did this happen to anyone else? Now I have to scratch and climb the board.

this was a hot topic right when the season started. It all depends on what your "invisible" MMR rating was during last season and preseason. Yes, you might have been silver 2 or 3 last season, but if you lost a bunch in a row towards the end, and then only won 50% of you provisionals, b5 might be the spot.
Here is what happened to me. I was B2 at the end of S4 (didn't play much during the year due to it being nice out and being outdoors and just other stuff). That being said, during preseason I worked myself up to Silver 5. Called it good, knowing that I could get there relatively easy, I just started messing around with champs and different metas. I lost like 9 in a row before the new season started. I went 4/6 in provisionals (3 afk games...bleh), and I got put in B5. Currently sitting in b2 now (actually skipped b3 somehow).
TLDR: you can work yourself out easily if your skill level is mid silver. And your placement not only matters what your MMR was, and not only your 10 games, but in what order you won/lost those 5 games. it's weird.
same thing with me was b4 last season won 7 out of 10 for placements and got placed in B5. Whats the point of the placement matches? If I had just played 10 ranked games starting from 0 i would be in B4 already. If my mmr was really that low, I shouldn't have been able to win 7 games. Below is what I put in my thread.
