Nasus gets stacks from Illaoi's tentacles, why?

Nasus gets stacks from Illaoi's tentacles, why? Doesn't this seem like a bit much? This interaction causes an Illaoi to be unable to counter a Nasus unless they choose to fight him with one skill tied behind their back. This skill I'm talking about is Illaoi's bread and butter harass skills, Test of Spirit. Test of Spirit is necessary to increase your damage on a target, and if you break the vessel or they run away they will start spawning tentacles which they can kill to get 5g and in the case of Nasus, free stacks for running away from the minion wave. Nasus already has the ability to instant kill tentacles to get easy stacks with an AA + siphoning strike AA reset when there aren't any minions ready for siphoning strike in the wave. Illaoi players are unable to choose to not spawn tentacles and are greatly hampered if they are without them. Tentacles which only help a Nasus player who's behind keep up on stacks, and a Nasus player who's doing well get even more stacks than they otherwise would.

How many of you think this is a healthy interaction? Should any/all tentacles she spawns give the full 3 stacks? Should player spawned unit give the full 3 stacks anyways?

TL:DR: What is an Illaoi player supposed to do to counter a Nasus and keep his stacks down in a world where he get's stacks from your mechanic?

Nasus gets stacks off everything though, so changing this would make a lot of other interactions strange. For example: Yorik ghosts Zyra plants Heimer turrets

Seeing as any champion who isn't able to exploit the tentacles has to deal with all the total bullshit involved in having a mob spawn nearby constantly, bullshit such as

*Can no longer base unless you recall immediately after the next one, which involves waiting an additional 5 seconds for the next one to spawn *Cannot avoid the mechanic because running away makes you suffer the mechanic, and not running away is pretty much death *Cannot speed up the resolution of the mechanic because that involves attacking an Illaoi tentacle far into the lane which is pretty much death *Cannot escape the mechanic naturally because even if you do, she has the cd again and fuck you.

are reasons, and not even all the reasons, why I'm absolutely glad to hear other people counter Illaoi as hard as you describe.

The Illaoi player should play passive and wait for gank assistance. This really isn't an issue. Stacks from tentacles will be minor compared with stacks from minions. Not every champion match-up can be completely balanced so find ways to play around the difficult match-ups.

I love laning against an Illaoi as a Nasus main. I usually stack really well and beat the Illaoi pretty hard.

Nasus can stack off everything but inhibitors and GP barrels. He is a very weak champion early, so you should be able to protect your tentacles and position to harass him under tower despite his stacking.

Champions have counter and nearly every champion has one champion that can completely alter the core gameplay of a champion.

Just because you can't play the game with your default strategy doesn't mean the game or the champion is not balance.

You complaining about Nasus would be like me complaining about Teemo.

  • This champion can blind when I go to Q a minion
  • Has a speed boost to mitigate the effects of wither
  • Is ranged and can kite
  • Can set invisible traps when I pursue that slow me and do a lot of damage

You just have to play around Nasus and get better than the average Nasus, ban Nasus, or not play Illaoi into Nasus. It is that simple. Considering that Illaoi is considered to be a little overpowered at the moment, this complaint truly amuses me.

I main Illaoi and Nasus really has never been a problem for me

Why would you play Illaoi against nasus? why not yorick then?

SaltyKracka6/25/2016, 9:13:28 PM1 votes

Why shouldn't he?

Frankly, I'm still surprised that he doesn't get stacks off of barrels.

Nasus gains stacks because he just can. He farms for his Q, simple as that. If you see an enemy Nasus, don't bring a personal army for him to farm. Every champ has good match ups and bad match ups. If you want to deal with Nasus, simply bring someone who can poke him or kite him; you know he farms to power up his Q, so if you knowingly and willingly bring your own minions and let him essentially get some extra creep farm, that's all on you when he starts one shoting the squishies on your team. It's another reason why you don't take Yorick into him as well. Just don't make your enemy champion's mechanics easier, and you'll do ok.
