AGREE or DISAGREE that the recent changes to Quinn have negatively impacted her play style. Thank you.

So, I just played her. I have a mixed bag as to whether I like the new changes or not.

  1. Harrier is a bit better as it appears more often than it used to. I like that.
  2. I don't like the fact that you can no longer attack as Valor. That sort of stinks, imho.
  3. It takes way too long for her to call Valor to pick her up. I like the old tag team in that respect.
  4. Any damage she takes knocks her out of it. I don't like that. As Sparkle said, it isn't supposed to be cancelled when hit by a minion, but it is.
  5. Heightened Senses is still the same. I would have like them to tweak it to include the ability to spot traps, but alas, that did not happen.
  6. Her lore has been pretty much ignored. She is supposed to be a scout, as evidence of her "W", but it does not locate traps.

Her new ult makes her more clunky, not less so. Yes, she can speed to the aid of champions, but I feel it would be much better if the channeling was faster.

Being a Quinn main, I have a few thoughts after playing the new Quinn.

  1. She has little to no burst potential. Her combo seems to do pretty comparable damage, but it's over a more drawn out period and requires a bit more skill. Hand in hand with this is that her follow up from her combo is weaker without being Valor and getting that extra attack speed and stickiness.

  2. More harriers is nice with their buffs, but harrier damage is down a bit which _seems _ to make the overall damage pretty comparable.

  3. No blind makes it extremely hard to deal with other marksmen and sticky melee champions. Quinn doesn't do as much damage as a lot of the other marksmen up front, so the blind helped her win trades or not die instantly (much more important now with her new combo). Other great dueling melee champions like Riven and Fiora are much harder to survive against now. Vault only gets you so far away, and these guys have the ability to get right back to you. Blind was what allowed me to survive an all in from either them or me. So dueling capacity is vastly down against this group. This might be something that could be helped with a slight range buff (just a thought). Many melee champions are able to easily get to Quinn from her auto attack range, and most marksmen have a greater range that keeps you from being able to compete without a blind.

  4. The ult. The ult...is different. Before the ult was what enabled burst and follow up, allowing Quinn to function as an assassin who could take down a damaged adc or mage with ease. Further, the ult let you chase down pretty much any champion and stick to them until dead. And one of my other favorites, the ult gave you fantastic tower melt with the ability to quickly vacate the area. In addition, the old ult was great for an emergency escape: vault off and enemy and ult to get some extra move speed to increase the distance, shortly evolving into an easy escape if they aren't able to quickly land another hit. The only function of the old ult that is preserved in the new (and actually improved) is map relocation. In the new ult, you can quickly and easily get from one end of the map to the other. However, you have no additional combat capacity, the channel kills your chasing potential, you have no stickiness to enemies with it, you can no longer use it to burn down towers, and it offers pretty much no escape potential (unless you see trouble coming a mile away and still have a completely clear path to run away, i.e. no champions, towers, or minions). I don't think this trade-off is worth it. The new ult lets you get into position to do some split pushing or go to help a teamfight, but once you're there is does nothing for you, and once you need to leave it still does little to nothing for you.

Just my thoughts on the changes. Most of these have changed what I liked about Quinn, however difficult of a time I had with her in many situations (e.g. late game or in most of her matchups). I won't say the new direction is entirely bad, but I think that beyond a shadow of a doubt it needs some significant work.

The R ability is slow. Super slow. Slow enough that Quinn could be shot dead multiple times. Nice that Riot wants to do new animation. Bad that it makes Quinn's most "fabulous" ability slow. So much for trying to escape my enemies.....

She's way better than she used to be... What are you talking about? Play her as a mid laner and roam so hard, that the enemy bot or top thinks you're teh jungler.

I just think her ult is lacking now. The channel time is too long and the burst from coming out of it does barely any damage (not to mention they said minion attacks wouldn't cancel it only slow her down, but when I played as her today minion hits were taking me out of ult which is so stupid.

Just lmao, I can get almost as much movement speed as calling Valor taxi by just proc my passive with items builds

I agree....

She's much more bursty and roaming-able than before, how does that affect her negatively?

Arkas11/13/2015, 6:04:35 PM1 votes

Disagree.

Aside from the weak towers, I like these preseason changes and Quinn is absolutely my favorite thing.

I did play her before and liked her, but her new ult is just so useful. The value of her speed is incredible.

The channel is only fair for balance. There's no reason she should be able to be everywhere on the map and be able to instantly escape too.

And, trading the blind for another harrier mark on Q just feels better. Her kit feels more tied together.

So the new Quinn is actually starting to grow on me. I think my old habits of building her just don't really complement her kit all that much anymore. Building her more like a conventional adc (or just a critmonger) is getting me better results. I'm still not completely sold on the new feel of the champion, but at least I have a good feeling that she can succeed better where she is now than where she used to be.

Her combo definitely does a lot more damage if you can manage to get the whole thing off in someone's face...as I said before, though, it takes a good second longer than before. I still have a lot harder of a time dueling an adc champion or taking down a tank early on, but against a mage (where the loss of a blind doesn't mean much) she can really dish it out.

I'm also a little addicted to some Valor+Homeguards.
