Nocturne Quality of Life

Nocturne's Unspeakable Horror is one of the most important and decisive parts of his kit yet when trying to cast on a champion in a group of minions, an impressive play turns into a disappointing fit of depression when a single minion is feared. Visual enhancements have been made before to improve this but it still occurs way too frequently. His E should Unspeakable Horror should only be able to target champions and large monsters, so that laning minions have no chance of inadvertently being feared.

Also, Nocturne's Paranoia should be looked at for quality of life as well. Being what defines him, it causes great consideration into pushing a lane when a Nocturne ultimate can come at any time. The problem though is when Nocturne activates his Paranoia but doesn't have an enemy to dash to (losing vision, chain cc, etc.) he is then still plagued by the ridiculously long cooldown. The ability should go on a reduced cooldown if a target isn't selected (not sure how much that would be to stay balanced).

The ult thing is intended to stay as is. They tried a reduced cooldown in a PBE cycle and it turned out to be VERY powerful.

Only issue I have with that is that it creates additional utility on his ult. However, to help him out I would like to see lower mana costs on his E and remove minion targeting on his fear. That would definitely help him out.

  1. use the "target only champions" button

  2. yeah i think that ult-change would be good in a way, tho it allready is an extremely strong fake-tool. for example you can use it whereever you are on the map when your toplaner gets ganked (before they can engage) and you will more often than not divert the gank because they think you are jumping on them.

what about this change: nocturnes ultimate gives him "vision" of all champions in range of his ability but he cant click on them and he cant see which champion it is. he can only see a glowing orb of light that he can ult to.

Being a creature of nightmares and shadows i dont see why he doesnt get vision of enemies as long as they're in his jump radius if anything they should be highlighted almost like night vision or you could go one better and give him constant vision when his ults available but that would probably give to much advantage but twisted fate gets vision for his ult so i dont see why a character made of shadows cant. “The darkness is closing in... it’s pitch black now... but I can still see him...” ― Kevin Ma, patient #4236

Well TF's is a little different. It doesn't blind everyone, it doesn't do damage, and it can be juked. But I do believe Nocturne's ult needs a little something.
