Syndra Improvement
I have been wondering why Syndra's R hasn't been made a skillshot yet. It seems so logical that something that can easily 1 shot ADC's by pressing a single button would be changed, but yet it's been left alone for seasons on seasons. Allow it to pass through minions, increase the range that the balls fly, do something to retain strength to Syndra, as long as there is some counterplay apart from either using a summoner spell or an item like Zhonya's or GA.
Think about LCS. If Syndra is picked, the other ADC is forced to stay out of Syndra's range until either her ult is on cooldown, or Syndra herself is CC'd. The only way that ult is on cooldown is if it was used, and if it was used on the ADC, there is a good chance it did 80%+ of that ADC's HP mid-to-late game (if it didn't one shot him/her). Whereas, if Syndra's ult was made into a skillshot (take for example Taliyah's Q except that it can pass through minions), it would require far more skill to hit the target, increasing counterplay. It could be sidestepped or blocked by allies, flashed away from, etc.
This (IMO) would greatly improve the quality of life for squishier targets. Syndra isn't meant to be an assassin. Think about it, she has lots of CC (W stuns, E slows). She is a mage who is meant to do lots of damage in a similar fashion to Viktor, Orianna, or Anivia. She isn't supposed to be in the middle of the enemy team like an assassin is. If she can so easily kill from afar, there is no punishment to walking up for a second to press a button that nearly or completely one shots an enemy and falling back to safety.
In reference to the video linked, I will only be talking about the first two clips from the time linked. In the first clip, Sneaky gets almost one shot by Syndra's R through Lulu's ult and shield as well as Sneaky's own heal. In the second clip -** in LCS **- Froggen misses all of his skillshots (several q's plus his w and e) and still manages to press R and 100-0 Arrow on Ezreal. Granted these clips could be from a patch or more in the past and changes could have been made to counteract this, however in several games recently I still see this recurring dominance from Syndra.
I'm attempting to not BabyRage at Riot balancing by focusing solely on Syndra for the time being, and by offering constructive criticism as to how this could be resolved, without simply nerfing damage into oblivion.
I am open to hearing other opinions on this matter. If Riot thinks that Syndra's current ult is in its best form possible, I would like to hear why they believe that to be the case as I have marveled over the fact that Syndra's R hasn't been remade already.
