Champion Rework weakening player loyalty ?

Thundernrain··9 votes·595 views

Recently there are lots of champion reworks. Although reworks are progressive, some of them seem somewhat too radical to me ( eg. graves ). Lots of these champs are main of different people. Players main different champs because they like their play style and enjoy winning games and making plays with them.Players have good memories of these champs and these games, and are proud of these experience. When the champion is rework , these experience that players are proud of suddenly become meaningless. And if changes are happening too often and too radical, player might start to feel unfamiliar with the game and lose their loyalty. So I think if a champion is going to be reworked, players' feeling and experience with the champ should be taken into account too.

In my opinion , a larger item pool and more game modes should be prioritized over champion rework because it gives us more different gaming experience with any champs.

Rework or not, my biggest beef with Riot is that they easily change champions class to something totally different.

Shen Tank -> fighter Sion Fighter/Mage -> Tank Poppy fighter/bruiser/Mage -> tank Zyra mage -> support Brand mage -> mage'ish support Vlad mage -> tank etc

I simply dislike it.

Zyra kit was better for support and had like a .3% playrate mid and most the rest support

So.......?

She could have been played as support and as Mid just fine. yet Riot decided to mix things up and now she's what she is.

She can still mid but just like earlier if not ideal

Then what was the point of this rework?

(Rhetorical question)

Honestly to make her more reliable also you don't need to waste a spell on your plants with the new range thing

Completely agree. I only play a handful of normals every month while I used to grind out ranked since I feel alienated from most of my main champs. Also I am not buying any skin or putting any money in this game ever again.

champion reworks a shit

often it means the old champion dies and you have to play a completely new one

Or some champions that were reworked were liked for their unhealthy aspects. IMO.

Granted i have only played all of S6 and many of the champs i played got small reworks i had a few that had massive (yorick) granted it did not really change him(core ideal) in the lane but i don't feel jg is viable for that style of champ. I played ryze did not seem like he was changed much either. So at some extent it seems like a lot still stay the same while others get a full blown change.

Viktor no fun at all but he's OP Taric same as above Mordekaiser unplayable for me Malzahar not fun and he's bad too Twitch gets progressively more cancerous every time Riot touches him

They just need to actually discuss explicitly their directions with reworks while they're being made and interact with players instead of just vaugely hinting stuff before throwing them out and saying "There, that's what you get". Before the Shen rework suddenly came out the only thing I think they explicitly said was that there'd be some sort of dodge mechanic involved, that was it. For Taric? They vaguely said that he had situationally "the most powerful ult in the game" and then nothing else.
