As a Japanese player with the Chicago server

Hello, first time posting here and probably one of my last. I normally don't like to complain too much about the game, since ragers, toxic people, game imbalance and all that stuff exist in all games. Lag does too, but this move just hurts too much to not vent out my frustration.

Normally, my ping would hover from around 130-160, ever since I've moved to Japan from the states (New York, 80ish ping). I've basically given up on ad carry, mid and top lane, because it requires me to last hit and constantly play against players who have better ping than I do (unless they're from Japan, Korea, Oce, etc). I am okay with that, since I like playing jungle and support and not being able to last hit or going for trades doesn't affect me THAT much in those two positions.

NOW with the server move, my ping is somewhere from 180 to 230 ping. Have you ever experienced lag, not with your movements and commands, but with your in-game notice pings(on my way, careful, mia...)? That's how bad it is.

I've invested too much time and money to just say "oh well, I guess I'll just quit." League is a huge part of interacting and having fun with friends back in the States (SNS like facebook and twitter don't count as "having fun").

I know this message won't bring about any change and you're thinking "just another one of those rants." I just wanted to share how this move has surprisingly hurt me.

I play from South East Asia myself, since most of the Asian servers are region/IP locked, I ended up moving to NA and bearing it with 300 ping, but now after the move, my 300 isn't even stable anymore, and Riot seems to be giving blank generic responses to my support tickets. They're basically a polite, PR-friendly equivalent to, 'Fuck you and thanks for the cash'.

I don't even get a free transfer out of NA, gotta spend more RP on that.

Sounds like your government is the problem. The North America servers target audience is the player base in North America. They can't do anything about locked and unlocked servers. They improved the NA servers for 95% of NA and it was a fantastic move. Your problems are yours. If you were in the NA, you would deserve a voice against Riot, but how can Riot be expected to make the NA servers fantastic for anyone outside of NA. What kind of entitlement mentality must you have to think you deserve that?

Where do you propose Asian players play then?

KR is local ID locked, CN is IP locked. Garena-run ML, SG, TW, PH, and the rest are also IP locked unless you're from those specific countries. Read a little, yeah?

Thats not Riots problem. Thats your problem. Your GOVERNMENT is keeping you from playing LoL.

Well it's Riot's apparently since they said they'd fix the routing issues and they did.

I'm glad they aren't compromised of people such as yourself.

I agree. I'm not saying NA servers should cater to everyone and it should aim to keep its NA player base happy. But from a player who's been playing this game for over 3 (4?) years and invested so much into it, it just saddens me that I can't enjoyably play the game anymore.

Especially when you've spent money on it, and it's not that the move itself was bad but the lack of an alternative option for the rest of us, just because we're the minority.

People can downvote all they want. Its true.

There really should be a Japan server.

I'm hearing news that there will be and I think this is the way riot is trying to fix the problem for Japanese players. I admire their work and I'll have lower ping as a result. But I'll probably play a different game to play with my friends back in the States.
