New champion scam needs to stop

Kouncil··4 votes·637 views

PLEASE stop releasing champions that are significantly over-powered just to Nerf them in the future after you get your money out of it. It has become abundantly apparent that EVERY new champion released is much stronger than the others, it seems purposefully done for the sales and hype. The least you can do is ban a new champion from ranked queues until you've reached a balanced skill base for him/her. Ekko <current asshole. (insert next quarters release thumb) <future asshole.

Bard I'm so OP no one plays me! Durp. Azir I'm so glitchy no one plays me! Durp. Braum Everyone does everything I do better, no one plays me! Durp.

So OP... I just pulled three champs out of a bag that were released in the last year that see very little play, only Azir was considered OP and it wasn't on his release. So.... invalid point is invalid, yes?

Also Gnar.

To be fair, release versions of Azir and Braum were actually really really fucking strong. They have been nerfed since then. So, you actually kind of just agreed with OP's point without knowing it.

esides the fact that release braum was tankier than leona and dealt enough damage to take on carries himself so eah next thing is that azir was glitched but after glitches were fixed he became quite op

Also Vel'Koz. That guy hasn't been touched since release

However he is generally considered to be pretty much balanced,he's just not that popular.

As far as intentionally releasing significantly over powered champions for more money, we should see a pattern in the patch following a champion's release if that was true, with over powered champions being nerfed and under powered champions being buffed. With that as our measuring stick, lets look at the wiki (and PBE for Ekko) to see who falls in what category.

  • Ekko's OP
  • Bard's UP
  • Rek'sai OP
  • Kalista slightly UP (more or less a wash of buffs and nerfs, but the Rend buff seems slightly stronger than the nerfs)
  • Azir should have been delayed another month (UP because everything broke?)
  • Gnar was UP
  • Braum was OP
  • Vel'koz was balanced
  • Yasuo was balanced (only nerf was to Statikk Shiv interaction with his passive)
  • Jinx was OP

So of the last 10 champions to be released, only four were released over powered in more than a year's time. The balance between OP and UP champions is the same for the most recent five as it is for the least recent five, which implies that things haven't gotten any worse.

I'm citing the Wiki for all of this so that personal memory of things doesn't bias things. If you can do the same we could carry on a discussion about it.

It is mostly because balancing on the PBE can't be done very well since it's a very few amount of people. He was released relatively balanced man you just gott learn how to play against him, there are a few things that are abusrd about him but that's why we have free week, so riot can tell if he is truly OP when EVERYONE tries him out.

SexyTaylorSwift1 votes

See, I don't think we should be using free week to tell if a champ is OP or not. Me, and many others just like me, are going to pick the champ, feed horribly, and then rito going to be like, "#balanced".

Seriously I would quickly loose interest in the game if no new champs were released.

And overall the balancing issue with new champs is that most of the time people don't know how to play with or against these champs. When Yasuo was released people complained that he was too weak, because no one could play him, which resulted in Yasuo getting buffs and later getting nerfed.

Ekkos winrate isn't even that high,its ~49%

SexyTaylorSwift1 votes

49% is actually pretty dam high for a champ that no1 really knows how to play yet.

MasterPrankster1 votes

Tbf Yasuo WAS broken on release, no one knew had to play him, and once he was figured out he was instaban or pick.

GreenLore1 votes

Which is what I am saying, people quickly start to call a champ Op/UP,even though no one has a clue how to play him/her.

Its just really hard to judge how strong a new champ really is.

3tyson1 votes

just dont buy the new champ skin they really dont make money on you spending ip...

Stars Shaper1 votes

Paying money for champions is your choice. If you do that because you want to exploit fast certain over the top mechanics don't blame Riot for balancing their game.

It's your fault!

Reminder - Lucian was considered shit tier until people realized that stacking CDR on him and dashing everywhere made it so you could out duel anyone till he was balanced
