Mastery Requirement For Ranked

Lately I have played in matches where summoners were fairly new to the champions/role they were playing in ranked. The summoners would either feed their lane or not know how to use their abilities. My suggestion is having a ranked system where a summoner needs at least Mastery 5 on a few champions, in each role, to at least play in ranked. This would bring relief to the community actually trying to climb, by not having a fresh level 30 in their provisional games, one tricks not feeding because they don't know how to play another champion/role or someone playing Fiora for the first time because they saw a youtube video saying she was a "strong pick." It would also make the games a little more competitive knowing the enemy has experience on the champion and not having a one sided match with a feeding Teemo.

I didn't say that they could only play a champion in that role, just require a mastery 5 for a champion in that role in case the occasion was to arise. If they were to be comfortable with a certain champion that is mastery 5 or above then by all means use it. Them having a mastery 5 gives them a better understanding of the position or champion, if they happened to be bad then they simply got out skilled.

i mean them being new to there role you cant change because of autofill.

Basically what Midlaner said. Autofill murders this idea pretty quickly, especially if two people get autofilled. Qued with a buddy, he did top/mid and I did jg/top. We ended up sup and adc. He doesn't have lvl 5 on a support and I sure as heck don't have an adc (least played role). What happens then? I see you mentioned in each role but who decides that? We have a meta yes but it does change. Roles and positions change with it. I may want to play Ivern support but he is only in the jungler category. I've seen Katarina supports that do well, would they be able to use her for a support count?

The other matter is lvl 5 doesn't mean they are good at the champion. Maybe they understand it better but all it means is they play a lot of the champ. I have seen level 5 Riven' and Yasuo's and they kind of sucked.

You're assuming the only purpose of ranked is to climb. Well the second purpose of ranked is to match people of similar ability. Noobs will end up where they belong.

The grind for noobs is long enough now. It's going to be a lot longer reaching level 5 with a big enough pool for ranked.
