Gold 5 playing ranked with all plats and gold 1s'
so umm... i just got promoted to gold 5 and even as silver i was playing with and against plats. if my mmr is so high why didnt i skip to gold 4?

I think you may be confused slightly. The loading screen boarder is not always an accurate depiction of a summoner's ELO or MMR. I see diamond people in plat V and I also see some silvers in plat V. Some diamond players were pushed into plat and some silver players belonged in Plat so the current ranks for both of these is around Gold 1 to Plat 3 depending on win/loss ratio. The system obviously sees that you have been doing well so it tries to match your recent streak with higher skilled players, I would say seeing Gold 1 players in Gold V is actually quite average. I went from gold V to 3 to 1 to plat in a few weeks because i was getting several consecutive wins( so they let you skip leagues to place you quicker into your own skill level), all this time I was facing people higher than my own division.
