Won 10 privisionals , got placed into bronze 4. What's with that?
Is it because of me playing support all ten games? Or is it something else? My friend won 2 games and lost 8 , and got placed into bronze 2. Rito p10x ;-;

Your placement is influenced by your rank last season. There was a soft reset so that placements had a larger impact, but it still matters where you were before.

deathgod51 votesyea it somewhat does. but still that you win 10 games points out that you get placed so low that you get out in no time. if you win enough of the games you can even skip tiers so that you get bronze 1 in no time.

Zurker1 votesweird i only won 3 and got placed in bronze 3... did you focus on objectives, deal most damage, participate in a lot of teamights etc? I mean winning is winning but sometimes I think the system can tell if youre just a bloodthirsty player,.

Last season I was G3 and after going 7-3 in placements I got placed in S4 this season

Aeszarck1 votesOkay, so this is the way that you get placed. If you were not any rank during last season, then it's just your provisonals that affect your MMR and ultimately your League. Each time you win a provisional, your MMR goes up by a lot, much more than a normal ranked game. Losing one drops your MMR by a lot. By going 10/0, your MMR skyrocketed, and the system placed you in the appropriate League for your current MMR. If you had done worse, then you would place lower. Your score or what you did in those games does not matter. The only thing that affects how much MMR you got from each match was whether you won or lost, and the MMR of your opponents (higher MMR opponents, more MMR for you). Now, if you both hadn't played ranked last season, why would you get placed in different Leagues if you scored better? Basically, normals MMR. I've found that normals have a somewhat significant effect on your ranked MMR. For example, I went 4/6 in my first season and got Silver II. My friend went 6/4 and got Bronze IV. I played a ton of normals (so I could get all the champions I wanted before I played ranked, many of whom were quite expensive) whereas my friend jumped into ranked immediatly, buying 450 IP champions. I think that in that extra time I gave myself before I played ranked, I was able to increase my MMR to far above that of my friend by playing normals.

MMR is Matchmaking Rating. When you win a match, you get MMR. When you lose a match, you lose MMR. If your opponents' team had a higher MMR than your team, then you get more MMR when you win and lose less if you lose. If their MMR is lower, then you get less and lose more. Your normals MMR has almost no effect on your ranked MMR (they're mostly separated), but there is an effect. When you are getting placed in a ranking after your provisonals, the system will take your new ranked MMR and put you in a ranking based on the normal MMR for that ranking. You had a lot more wins than I did when you first started ranked, but if you didn't improve too much since you started over those 600 wins, then your ranking does make some sense.
