What does it take to escape platinum

So I've been stuck in platinum for a very long time. Ended the S6 in plat 3, just dropped from plat2 1 day before season ended.

Season 7. I really had no trouble going from gold3 to plat5. I ran through it without any problem. Then plat5, 4, 3, 2 and plaf2 is where I am stuck. Totally unable to go past plat2.

I think that my mechanical skill is for the diamond, aswell with the decision making and macro. No matter how hard I try, or how consistent I am, I just can't go past plat2.

I find plat2 difficult because I mainly get a team that will crush my opponent and vice versa. Like you get 2 teams that aren't nearly balanced when it comes to skill. You either are going to crush your opponent, or you are gonna get crushed on all 3 lanes. I get small majority of games which are fairly even in terms of overall game knowledge and mechanical skill.

So how do you get to diamond? How can I be better and what should I improve.

As I've said, my macro play is decent and decision making, imo, is way much better than plat1 or low diamond. I know when to rotate and how to abuse it. When to take a certain objective. Recalls and such. You get me. But still in more than 500 games in S7 I'm unable to make any progress.

Any help would be appreciated.

As someone who is platinum right now and has been diamond in the past, I'm being perplexed on how terrible this tier is. I mean...it always were, but we're talking about the losing side always having someone with 15 deaths bad. That's really out of the ordinary and yet so consistent for this tier.

In the past, Platinum was best overcome by playing something cheesy. Don't bother cooperating with monkeys, it doesn't work. Find something that people can't react to properly and dictate games with it.

When you reach D4 you can start playing normally again, but this gap is really a pit of clowns, no other way to place it sadly. And it's a pit of clowns with good mechanics, so you can't expect to go in, outplay everyone and win.

I'm still searching for what to cheese it with though, not much options this season. I can suggest Graves jungle if you want to try it, but it's not my thing.

Because in Platinum everyone goes for the risky plays still. Ex. Jungle trying to consistently invade instead of the safer choice: farming and ganking.

Exactly. Especially mid game where one mistake can turn the game around. I've lost so many games by just someone dying randomly on the map (well including myself too) and then the enemy capitalizing on that mistake. (Nash etc) I'm feeling like you have to play mid game close to perfect in order to win it later. Throws are too often and so punishable.

Oriana, Sion, and Wukong are great for the unexpected cheese at that level. Plat has probably the widest variance in skill between the players residing in it, making it the true elo hell for many. You are also correct on the bad decision making mid game. Diving and stomping works quite well until you get to around plat were people know how to land a stun or something.

Yeah. Bunch of clowns. Well I think graves is getting nerfed. I usually play adc and was a jungle main for solid 3 years. (Lee onetrick specifically, dropped down to 40% win rate so i gave up on jungle) I tried expanding my champ pool and I did. The only thing I can possibly see as a gateway to ranking up is duoing. I used to duo with my friend and we were abusing jungle/mid synergy between two of us and basically closed the game ourselves. Or the other thing is playing a solo lane. My oriana's been sick lately and pretty much that's the only way I can see myself ranking up. Playing solo lanes where my decision making wont be interrupted by unskilled donkeys and then snowballing every single game.
