How is your elo determined after placement matches

ok so i had worked my way up to bronze 1 at the end at season 5 and then i did my placement matches and i went 6 and 4 and i went positive almost every match except for maybe 2 and at the end i was put back in bronze 5. I just want to understand to i did to deserve bronze 5 again.
