ADC and Support question

I'm new to LoL and playing support. Recently I got flamed by my ADC for poking and/or farming minions while he either recalled or was re-spawning. My question is why? I get why I shouldn't take the last hit on a minion but why can't I help whittle down the minion wave to clear them faster, or farm them while the ADC isn't in lane.

Attacking the minions needlessly can screw up lane position which can put your ADC in a bad spot. If your ADC is recalling and the minion wave is trapped on their side, it wouldn't hurt to push it under the turret completely for them so it will reset; however, if you're just pushing regardless when they're not there, that can leave the wave over extended and leave them vulnerable to all in's or jungle ganks. This is especially bad if the enemy support is a heavy all in champion like Ali or Leo who can pray on the ADC more easily if they're over extended in the lane. That said, you shouldn't AA the minions unless you're trying to help them push after killing them. AA'ing the minions can throw off your ADC's last hitting which is frustrating for many of them.

Only time you ever hit minions is when your ADC wants to recall and you need to shove the wave in together.

As OtterlyLost said it can completely mess up the position of the lane ultimately resulting in your ADC having to overextend to farm if the enemies capitalize on your mistake.

It’s because of how the wave is position. If the wave is slow pushing towards your tower you can stop it all together from pushing. If the wave is at the center you can push the wave towards their tower which they can freeze on their side of the lane. Anyother reason they are assholes who are tilted.

Thanks, I appreciate the info. Got to get good habits in before entering ranked :)
