Here are very tiny tips from a Platinum jungler.

I decided to quit league.

But since league has meant a lot to me over the last few year,. I wanted to throw out some few tips I gained from climbing to Platinum.

http://imgur.com/D46XnGr: prof that I am plat.

A list of champions that I think will be viable during this and next patch. Elise Gragas LeeSin Nidalee RekSai Evelynn Kindred .

There is absolutely no limit as to a champ can handle such as Annie jg, Tahm Kench jg, but there are reasons why champs like Elise, Khazix or leesin have been widely used as jg champions.

A few common properties "good jungle champions" share:

  • Either life steal to stay viable during early junglings,
  • Really good abilities to make successful ganks; crowd control or percent health damage skills or aggro ping pong skills.
  • Highly mobile skills to enhance fast cover or joining with the team.Nidalee Nidalee Nidalee Nidalee

Given these properties, I would like you to consider that champs that have all of those properties will be really good as a jungle champ even tho they are no on my list.

Here are my tips as to which champion I select based on my team's composition.

if Top is playing a tank, you just have to look at what kind of damage it exerts. If it is magic damage, go for LeeSin, if he does physical damage, go for Evelynn Eliseetc. Some easy and high utility champs that are good for the most cases are Gragas RekSai.

In solo ranked, It's not that you don't trust your teammates, but you can't trust your teammates. The so called "safer, easier" Amumu Sejuani are actually harder and more difficult to win games than early bullies.

A very simple mindset you need to have in your mind: "I am going to get kills early games and build damage items to make opponents tilt, and win."

Item build tips for each champ

General case: Build the first jg item and then build item 3190. If they have ad mid, build item 3071 for ad champ, item 3116 for ap champ. The reason is item 3190 early game impact is really huge and very cheap compared to other items you build.

  • Elise rush item 1402 oritem 1414 then rush item 3116. At this point, if the game is tilted in your side, build items that give you damage and some tankyness. item 3001 item 3136.
  • Evelynn same as Elise.
  • LeeSin rush item 1408 item 3071. I am a Lee sin main, I hate buying item 2049 , it's just not worth. If you have 40% cd, you can spam your ult and make ganks that are ridiculous. QQitem 3340 Wsummoner 4 Ult can bring the opponent from all the way to your teammate.
  • RekSai item 1401 item 3748 Hydra allows you to split push better with your ult.

Some jungling tips, if you are at the base, look at the all other lanes and see which lane is pushed or pulled.

  1. Prioritize jungling and leveling first
  2. If every camp is alive, go for the side you can gank after camps. If Top lane is pushing into your tower, go for gromp and gank. If Mid is lane is pushing in, go for the birds smite it and gank. These little tracking of your jungle camps help you keep up with the level and gank at the same time.
  • Always look at the minimap and constantly tab and see which lane is losing. Minimap only gives you a brief summary of what is going on, so if opponent is pushing your lane, take a look at and see if your top is winning or losing in trade.
  • Always keep track of big waves regardless of whether it's your team's or their. Big waves tell two things whether you can make dive kills or whether they are gonna dive in. Act accordingly.
  • Don't go through the typical gank routes, create your own. http://imgur.com/K5uVQ6n Blue lines are the ones I frequently use as Elise or Lee sin. Almost all of them avoid typical ward sites Red X's are the typical ward sites.
  • If the enemy jungler shows up on one side, take the corresponding jungle objects. They don't have to be big ones. If the enemy shows up top, go into their wolves smite it and ward up and take the rest of his camp. Take birds and golems if he shows up bot.
  • Change your snowballing style based on which lane you took care of.
  1. If your Top is fed, ward up top side and go other lanes. This will allow you to help other lanes, while keeping your top to avoid gank and keep snowballing.
  2. If your mid is fed, keep moving around where your mid is going, if your mid is sitting around mid, keep counterjg and make 2v2 fights bet jg and mid. If your mid likes to roam, roam with your mid. Look at where mid is going and just follow.
  3. If Bot is fed, keep jungling bot side and keep taking dragons. Bot's influence is relatively low and their lead can easily be taken, so you need to keep taking care of them. Keep your presence in bot.

I think these are the ones I can hit right now, post any thought or questions, I will answer them.Teemo Teemo

edit: champion tip is messed up and fixed it

Got any advice for someone who has tried out jungle and is kind of enjoying it? I got a lot of owned champions that are well known for jungling but my own skill is lacking. Possibly from having games where my opposing jungler was probably jungle main with tons of games under their belt. Kinda makes for a bad learning experience most of the time. At least for me it does.

Champions that I own that are known as junglers: LeeSin (Kinda avoiding him due to his skill floor), Amumu, Chogath, Diana, Ekko, Elise, Evelynn, Fizz (just picked him up though), Fiddlesticks, Jax, Kindred, Malzahar (play him often in mid lane but not Jungle), Pantheon, Nunu, Nidalee (same with Lee Sin), MasterYi, Poppy, Quinn, RekSai, Rengar, Sejuani, Shyvana (just picked her up recently), Warwick

I am not very good with mechanics as well!. If you started jg recently, you get the feeling that your opponent is winning in level and gank in every game aspect. Then, I recommend Elise and Reksai for you to try out things and do things. To give out basic tips, how to jg early is that start on gromp or golem depending on which side you are on, then buff to wolves to buff to hit level 3 with stable health. Reason for this is that wolves are the weakest and by killing wolves, you actually hit level 3 with no health loss or tiny loss, now you can get the strong buff camp with 3 skills to prevent further health loss. Therefore, you can gank afterwards. Another tip is that people are gonna go for double buff level 3 gank top mostly, so what you can do is get scuttle crap and wait till the enemy jg to show up. Then you can go to help your laner by counter ganking. Most of the time, junglers are more squishy and are likely to burn their skills on your top, so focus their jg unless their top is very low. During teamfights, you can just peel for your adc or carries. Some people try to tank as much damage as possible, but this is a bit misleading. You don't go in and tank, but you peel for your adcs and aggros those bruisers and carries on your side. Going in and tank is different than peeling and aggro tank. Tell me if you know what I mean here or not.

Thanks for the information. And I think I get what you mean by the difference of Tanking and Peeling/Aggro tanking. Sorry my response is a little short.

A few issues I have when jungling that seem to happen repeatedly. Lanes lose early trades and ping for help before I hit three camps and level 3. All lanes are losing, all want help and I have no idea what to do.

  1. A lane will be pinging for help at <50% health before I finish three camps. I tell them to play safe as I can't gank that soon and they either die or rage. I could gank at level 2 but the most likely outcome is me dying and losing buffs.

  2. Jungling is going ok but after my first clear it's obvious that all lanes are losing. All want help, I can't help them all. Who do you prioritise? I generally try to help if I'm near and they want help but try to farm hard to see if I can carry from the jungle. I know it isn't ideal but I really have no clue what to do when this happens.

  3. How do you decide when to go for main objectives like dragon, rift herald and baron? For me I want to hit dragon when the other bot lane is gone and I'm around level 5 - 6 but they want to shove to tower first. By the time they come to help it feels like a party because everyone shows up.

  4. How do you get past the whole team raging at you for not being active enough? If I help too much I fall behind, if I don't help enough they tend to lose lane. It also feels like the enemy jungler is everywhere and helping every lane win but when I try to gank it just goes badly even if they are shoved up.

I've had this happen as well. Makes it really hard on you when your still learning.

I am nowhere near pro level, but here's what you do.

Ignore your team when you know there's nothing you can do for them. Don't let anyone pressure you into making bad choices. If an ally is going to die because of their screw ups then you just have to let it happen. Don't be a hero. Heroes become feeders.

Dragon is a priority objective, yes, but don't go for it without vision. Buy a pink to clear any wards that might be there. Go for dragon when you know where at least 4 of the enemies are. Killing one invader is usually easy enough...more than that and you end up dying and losing dragon. Don't do dragon while any one of your allies are dead unless you are attempting a steal or if there are more dead enemies than dead allies. A dead ally is an invitation for the enemy to group an objective. Its like the game RISK the more units you have compared to the enemy and the more likely you are to secure an objective.

At my current elo, teams will sometimes go for baron as early as 23 minutes in. Most times teams don't go for it at all unless they score an ace. Unless your allies agree to a baron, you can't. It isn't your decision to make. It's like the FF option, it takes the whole team to say yes.

Rift Herald is a tricky objective for a number of jungle because of its insane damage output. It takes no less than two people in most instances to kill it. If you can convince top and mid to help out at the same time, you can kill it early and allow one of them to take the buff. The optimal time to kill Herald falls within 13-17 minutes in the game. The buff is worth it even if an ally dies to get it. It lasts 20 minutes, after all and is optimal for a solo laner such as top or mid.
