The Limitations of the Remake System
So I had a weird day recently. Two games in a row, I had my ADCs disconnect around 4-5 minutes into the game. For anyone who plays ranked, you're well aware that that's after the window for a remake. So we're basically forced to play at least another 10 minutes to get to early surrender, and since 1 person often doesn't want to give up even when you're down a champion and are already losing 100 kills to 3 (those three are on Yi, obviously), you're pretty obviously going to be playing until at least 20 minutes for a majority surrender. So the following questions come out of this experience:
- Why can't we choose to surrender at any point following 3 minutes? We're being forced into a losing game. We're just wasting time. And if it was unanimous, how would that hurt anyone?
- When players afk (long enough to warrant a leave buster), why do we still lose LP? Or at least, why do we lose the same amount of LP as a normal game, as though we just played a game where all else was equal, but we just didn't have the skill? If the idea behind leave buster is that a certain amount of time afk warrants attention, I assume that amount of time was chosen for a reason. Perhaps that that amount of time is enough to have a statistically significant effect on the outcome of games? So why wouldn't you then mitigate the loss to the disadvantaged team to some degree? Moreover, you could give the winning team LP so it doesn't waste their time without punishing the losing team.
Just as a qualifier, if anyone's planning to respond with, "We wish we could do something about that, but it's automated," (this is the response I get to many of my questions to Riot) can you please also explain why that's an insurmountable limitation? You know, since Riot is the one who designs the game and automates anything that's automated?
Thanks in advance.
