My problem with the auto-fill system.

I want to make a point in that this account is a secondary/smurf account to which I play on to get a feel for champs at a (Slightly) lower MMR than I do on my main account. I don't play a whole lot to begin with, but throughout each season I typically fall into the mid-high Silver category with the 10-30 ish Ranked games I churn out. So, my opinion may become moot after a certain level of play. I'm speaking mostly due to seeing this constantly, in this account's elo.. As well as it slowly starting to pop up in my main account's as well. This one just has an extra couple dozen dodged games (if Riot tracks that data).

That being said, I legitimately can't play on this account any more unless I want to sit on ARAM all day. Over the course of these recent two weeks, I'd say I've attempted to play around 20 games of League.. Mostly in Norms due to just not being confident in my normal lanes. However, I've been attempting to get back into the groove of things by experimenting with new champions in Top/Mid and getting a feel for them, hence playing so much on this account. The reason I'm complaining though, is the fact that out of the 20 or so games I've tried to play.. I played about 5 of them.

To be fair, one of those games I started to become toxic, and left the game to spare both myself and my team the frustration of possibly inting or just flaming with no end. But the rest, I dodged.. Constantly. 5 minute queue ban for dodging, 15 minute queue ban, 30 minute queue ban.. Because every single time I get auto-filled jungle. Not support, which I feel comfortable in, not ADC which I can kind of work around, jungle.. The one role I've attempted time and time again over the last few seasons, and I've never once felt comfortable or even viable in. I understand it might be a low elo sort of thing, most people want to be in lane because they like having all the kills and Damage to Champions and all of that.. But I would rather sit here and watch a Youtube video for 5-10 minutes than have to try my best in the one role I truly dislike playing.

I get the logic, auto-filling players will cut queue times, as well as give people a chance to get out of their comfort zone and practice things they may not be used to.. But I don't want that, if I did there's an option in the lanes tabs to just be Filled to a random position, and that's a perfectly great option to do so! But to force someone like myself, who plays a maximum of 5 games a day to begin with, to do something that I adamantly don't enjoy.. Why would I even want to try? I love League, but I'm a top laner! I like off-meta, goofy, SRO clickbait title builds that I can just mess around with and have fun.. I love testing my skills against people in my comfort zone to see if I really deserve to keep climbing.. What I don't love is that I can be shoved into a game, forced to pick a champ I know little about, and learn camp routes by Googling them during the loading screen.. Only to be beaten by someone who is completely comfortable doing what I never really want to do. And from what I remember since the implementation of the auto-fill feature.. That's exactly what a lot of people hate about it.

I can't count the amount of times I've seen a post like this, better thought out than mine, probably even worded better than I can do it... And I tell myself: "This'll be it, Riot will pay attention this time.".. And no, it's still the same. It's a broken system, shoving people in to fill the roles that nobody wants either because they're not exciting or the people genuinely don't like the roles. If you want to put people in these roles, regardless of the roles, maybe it would be better to talk to have an open discussion about why people don't like them? Or in the case of jungle, have an open discussion with pro's and noobs alike to help understand what might make the role more appealing without making it a brain-dead mess? Otherwise, for the duration of waiting to queue again, I'll be looking for something else to play, as I'm sure many others have / are.

TL;DR - Even though I'm a low elo casual, it's hard to justify playing a game where I'm not given the freedom to play the role that I want in the hopes that I'll be willing to play a role that nobody wants. Please, for all of our sake, don't take away my reason for loving the game to have more games played.
