You can't stop boosting service, but you can stop unsportsmanlike players become boosters.

Hello all friends, This is my first time posting something on the forum, it's a decision i made after thinking a lot. The story below is completely true and actually just happened before this article was posted. Our protagonist is my little brother, who can't speak well English and have no idea what a forum is. He was crying so hard after that game, and i, as a elder brother, stood up and posted this article. There are a lot of boosters and a lot of boosted account, we all know that. Me personally as a platinum-ranked player, don't see that much boosters in platinum division, but in bronze and silver, it is a totally different story. My brother was in Bronze 3, he really likes League of Legends, everytime after school he went into his room and plays LOL. His favorite champion is ZED, he thinks Zed is cool and he plays the champion really well. Today he was queuing up with one of his best friend, a Silver4 player. Than when they got into the champion selection screen, a player called "jeenXXXXXXX1" typed in the chatting box : mid. And claim that mid is his role. "Oh crap" My brother said, and he told me about it, so i went to see the monitor. Clearly, my brother was the one got mid. Than an unexpected move were made by "jeenXXXXXXX1", he banned my brother's lebanc, my brother literally has it showed on the screen. But than one of the player seems to be disconnected from the server so the game was canceled, when me and my brother were cheering for got rid of a troller, my brother got into another game with the same people, "jeenXXXXXXX1". This time, he and another player, "blood XXX XXX", together, were ORDERING my brother to be a sup instead of mid(my brother got mid once again). They were talking like they are two gods looking down on all the human beings like they are looking at trash. My brother felt offended, but he still gets his Zed so he kept playing. But when i saw that "jeenXXXXXXX1" is using Kayle as sup, i know they are not done. I was right, "jeenXXXXXXX1" went to Mid lane, directly without type in a single word in the chat screen. My brother said to me,"it's just another troller, i will handle it". Than the minions spawned, my brother is really good at cs especially with his Zed, so Kayle always failed on stealing my brother's cs. Than this Kayle got piss off, and when towards the opponent's turrent, gave a free first blood to the other mid lane. After while he fed the second one, than the third one... Not just this, he went to other lanes and fed the other opponents' champions, and he even type "don't steal my cs zed, if you don't and go bot be a sup, i will start playing". Later as everybody imagined, he afked. And his friend "blood XXX XXX", he was verbal abusing through the whole game to his teammates, but try to be as friendly as he could to the opponents, when my brother asked the opponent players to report "jeenXXXXXXX1" and "blood XXX XXX", "blood XXX XXX" acts like he is innocent and not guilty at all. Well I'm pretty sure the opponent knows who to report since they feed at least 8 kills to the opponents, and Kayle hasn't showed up in 10 min on their map(he literally typed "fire alarm" and afk...). In the game, Blood-Draven-XXX XXX and jeen-Kayle-XXXXXXX1 were behaving like they are just better than you, though i can see their skill are definitely not Silver, their manner are absolutely lower than pre-school. "Blood XXX XXX" even once said "this is my game, i can ks whatever and whenever i want", and "jeenXXXXXXX1" said "we can decide the game, we are better than you". I mean, sure you are better than maybe all Silver players, but so what, if you keep that attitude in real life who would like to become your friend? For you guys who is still reading, thank you for your patient and kind. To be honest, and i'm not afraid to say this, i was once a booster when i was still in China. I usually boosted bronze, silver and gold players. I've seen real messy situation where 4 of my teammates were paid to act like they just get into this game for one day or an extremely short time period, in a gold ranked game. Even though i've been through that, and this time is not even happening on myself, i feel more anger and helpless than in China. I always thought that NA server has a better environment than China, and i can see that in platinum and diamond ranked games, everybody are cooperating with each other and try their best to win games. But i wasn't expecting something like this in a lower ranking game from NA server. I mean, boosting happens all the time, it can't be stopped i get that. But i don't get why their are people, like "jeenXXXXXXX1" and "blood XXX XXX", total unsportsmanlike(i don't want to swear on a public forum, but i am really pissed off rn) players can do whatever they want on an account that doesn't even belongs to them(in the post game screen, when my brother was crying, i chat with "blood XXX XXX", he claim he is diamond 1, but tbh, i don't believe it)? When you reporting the account, first you don't know if it would actually work, second you feel bad because you know this aren't their real account, so they probably don't care but the real owner of the account paid money and get banned... I post this article just want to tell all summoners in League of Legends, all sportsmanlike and responsible summoners that are fighting in summoner's rift,: me, as a former booster, and has stop boosting others account for 3 years, and has played LOL and love it for 5 years, that after all these things, i finally have a statement, that we might not be able to stop boosting services, but if we try hard enough, we can stop or at least decrease the unfair and nonsportsmanlike behaviors from some of the players that don't have the proper manner and are irresponsible for what they are doing and what they did. My poor little brother got demoted to Bronze 4 because of that game, he tried so hard to get to Bronze 3. Now that he said he is done with League of Legends, i feel like i wanted to do something for him but i can't, besides pressing the report button on two random accounts that probably don't belong to the real criminals. For who is still reading, thank you for your patient and kindness, i hope you can have a smooth trip on the way to Challenger. -By a normal high school student who loves his brother and League of Legends and hates all the injustice behaviors happens in life. item 3800 summoner 1 Kayle Ironically Kayle is such a justice chmpion, and still being used to do these bad things.

??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Every. Single. Game. That's not a joke, someone goes roughly 1/10 in every game I've played in plat this season.

Owyn4 votes

"1\10"? - that's sounds more of a deranking service than boosting one [slayer-jinx-wink]

MonkeyMadness2 votes

No, that's the result of boosting. Players get boosted to plat, think they are good, queue solo, and get stomped because they actually have 0 skill.

Blanchimont4 votes

You can stop boosting with a pure solo queue

angery pout2 votes

People will still get on accounts that aren't theirs to boost.

It's a lot harder to do so when you have to boost alone. It doesn't mean you should ignore it just because it doesn't stop it completely. It's still better than Dynamic Queue as a whole, which makes it easier to boost many players at the same time.

Boosting through queueing with a higher rated player you couldn't normally be able to queue with is always against the rules. That's just as against the rules as playing on somebody else's account. Silvers queueing with golds and winning enough to get to gold themselves isn't being boosted. It's part of the game that's been present in past seasons.

So what is okay:

Silvers queueing with golds who win enough games to get to gold themselves. Golds queuing with silvers and plats.

What is not okay:

Golds queuing with bronzes on a smurf. Plats queuing with silvers or lower on a smurf. Etc.

Solo queue doesn't stop boosting. There will always be different methods available to players who don't want to obtain their rank legitimately.

PayaThePapaya2 votes

ummm no. smurfing to boost via duo queue is not allowed - it might be immoral but riot is not against it

angery pout1 votes

I literally just said players are not allowed to queue in ranked if they are more than one tier difference. It doesn't matter if you're silver on the smurf so you can queue with your silver friend even though you're plat or higher. It is actually against the rules.

Maybe I phrased it weird but the point is, if the client won't allow you to queue with them on your highest rated account, you're not allowed to queue with them on your smurfs.

PayaThePapaya1 votes

meant to say it is allowed. duo queue boosting is allowed

Solo Queue doesn't stop boosting, but it makes it significantly harder to boost, thus placing a barrier between the booster and the person who receives the boost. For starters, they cannot group together with Solo Queue. Just getting into the same game together would be a massive problem. It would force them them to share accounts, passing control of their account over to the person doing the boosting and automatically triggering "strange logins" that would flag the account.

Silvers in queue with Gold is not fair for either side if the Gold player is the one who ends up carrying the game for them because the Silver player did not earn it. Their Gold level friend brought them to Gold. They did not earn it themselves. The other Silver players are already at a significant disadvantage when you consider the skill difference. In the most extreme case, it would be close to a 1000 LP point difference between a Silver 5 and a Gold 1 (which happens a lot more frequently than it should). This is unacceptable at any tier because that is almost a 1000 point difference in their rating. It is already considered unacceptable at Master/Challenger even though they are technically in the same tier, but the skill difference even at that level is massive as well.

tl;dr - Solo Queue is not a solution to boosting, but it makes it significantly harder for people to boost.

That's against the rules. Currently DynaQueue boosting is not only permitted, but encouraged.

Can somebody do a TL;DR? I'm too lazy to read this

A classic example of a high elo douchebag. There really isn't much we can do about people like those two. No one knows who they are. About your little brother, you can try to convince him it's just bad luck. Can't really sugarcoat a reason to play this game.

SirSmokeysAlot1 votes

Word of advice, don't post others user names in forum. It's name and shame and you can get punished for it.

Spaceman5pff3 votes

He didn't. All those XXX's are placeholders for the real characters in the name.

Unstoppable Monk1 votes

Right, because people playing other people's accounts being "LOLOLOL I DON'T CARE BAN THIS ACCOUNT ITS NOT MINE" isn't the problem.

Can you insert line breaks, please? There's little paragraph spacing on the boards, so it makes it hard to read.

Well, this is pretty much what happens all the time.

We, as players, can't really do anything about it. You can't reason with people like this, you can't argue with them to play reasonably. They will troll and they don't care.

Riot need to take an actual stand on it. They need to make an information campaign to make people more aware of what behaviours are unacceptable, and they need to start applying really harsh punishments for this kind of behaviour. I know they always want to err on the side of caution, not ban players, give them multiple chances to reform or to not ban them for bad days - and that's all fine for things like the occasional disconnect or a bit of flaming, but outright intentionally trolling in ranked games should be punished extremely harshly.
