Hello Fellow Summoners, I am recently noticing that I am being put against high mmr players in Norms. I always get the short end of the stick and end up having teammates who are way lower than me and enemies who are way higher than me (Im gold II and I get put against Diamond V or even Plat II). It is getting frustrating because I want to be challenged against players but I don't want to get completely stomped all the time. Is there some sort of balance issue lately with that?

I don't pretend to understand how matchmaking works but I do know that unranked accounts and duo/trio que games really tip the aggregate mmr for each team in the wrong direction in more cases than not. I do think that a strict solo q would eliminate the need for guess work since player skill is the true metric for who should play whom. I know there are people with friends that play and I think they should be allowed to play ranked flex or ARAM or RGM like that but solo Q isn't really solo when you have 2 duos on a team and normals isn't just for fun when you get matched up against really strong players because 4 people of low skill que'd together. All that plus the fact that if you are playing when all the teens are out of school leads to very poor quality matches. I honestly don't know why Riot takes their game so seriously as far as being able to leave a game as soon as it falls apart when they designed it to be so snow bally that the outcome is pretty clear around the 10 minute mark in a surprising number of cases. I mean lets say katarina or ekko is 15-2 at 10 min and successfully 1v5 ing your team, like why suffer the full 30-40 minutes it will take to knock down your nexus when its obviously over (but you have 2 try hards that wont FF)? Anway I know that not an answer but I sympathize with your plight and agree its a problem that Riot doesn't take as seriously as pro play or OP champion development. It might be different if the game wasn't free to play but well never know unless we all switch to overwatch.
